Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Well, yesterday's practice was weird. Everyone was sort of absentminded, we changed a lot in the tracks I thought were ready to go, phone recording apps were farting out and I think we need something better to record our practices.
Also, it was the first time I tried my new P/J with flats in band environment. Well, it won't beat the J in a few songs, but it's definitely a keeper. I rolled off the J pup and it got wonderfully low and thumpy, actually, it was so cool that I'm not using any effects on a new track we're just completing, just thumping away Geezer style. The only thing is, I don't know if I want to carry two guitars to every practice...
Choices, choices, choices

If it's just a few songs, I wouldn't bother with taking the J. HOWEVER, a backup bass is always good to have.

I guess I'll just interchange them from practice to practice and see what sounds best overall.
Probably use both for recording, though.

So yesterday I bought the cables that I needed to get the full-blown stereo hooked up at the new place. It had been 4 years since I had it all together. I've got some obscure 4-way Technics towers, a fairly cheap turntable and sansui receiver from the 80s - holy BALLS I forgot how good that rig sounds. I put on a Cactus record and the bass made me jump a little. Just full, round, authoritative low end, smooth middle and clear articulate highs. Even MP3s sounded pretty shaging good on that setup. I'm pretty pumped to have that going again. I need to hit the thrift stores and hunt down a CD player this weekend, but that shouldn't hard to find.
