Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Finally got the right pcb for the blend pedal in the mail. I was able to find 2/3 of the parts i needed from my box-o-parts. A trip to radio shack got the rest. Got the board about half soldered, should be able to finish that pretty easily. After that i just need to drill the holes in the enclosure and put it together.

If i can get that working i got a free Rat pcb from the same company that I'll do next. I'll post some photos tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Dude your avatar really rocks/sucks! I remembered living DS9 when it came out. Tried watching it recently and it was just too lame in the first season. I couldn't get to the good stuff.
On the flip side, going back and watching Babylon 5 was awesome.
Yeah... start at season 3.

I still need to watch Babylon and Firefly and the other one with the robot blonde chick.

What was the pricing like? Outrageous? You do a solid neck or hollow?
The wine in me had questions and my fuzxy fingers arent organizing this post.
I'll stop now.

It's cool, it's Saturday I think most of the board is drunk-ish at this point.

the neck alone isn't cheap, but it does come ready to go (tuners, nut etc) I don't know how Kevin's pricing goes since it's a one off and I've got some extra features best bet is shoot them an email. But I can say a neck alone is a lot more affordable than a whole bass.

Neck being built will be solid, brushed finish, 34.5 scale, and black block inlays. Going into a 1975 black gibson G3 body. Pretty excited.

I've had my EGC for 6 months now, and every time I pick it up, I'm just as happy as the first day I got it.

I've only seen the first episode...
Yeah, I'm a horrible geek.
It's trendy to like Firefly now so that overshadows why it's important in the SciFi genre.
Sci Fi for the most part falls in three categories: Star Trek Utopia, Star Wars civil war or Blade Runner Dystopia.
Firefly is actually different. Very blue collar without being low brow. Some of the best dialogue anywhere.

I'd never heard of EGC until y'all started posting about them. I grew up in Pensacola where they're made so I got a soft spot for that.

Kevin is an awesome guy, if you're in the neighborhood I'm sure you could set something up to try one out. Take a lot of the apprehension out of getting one.

My EGC is the best bass I've ever played. Worth every $.

What about Stargate? I've only seen Stargate Atlantis, besides the movie.

Damn, I always miss the good ****. It's been deleted now. What did you say?

Holy Hell! The whole thread is gone! I cant believe it got deleted. Ive never seen that before. It was only three pages long and hadnt gotten that bad. Anyway, some guy started a thread complaining about his singer (who he mentioned happened to be "gay") was a real diva and didnt wanna pull his weight and he was asking for reasons why he shouldnt "put his foot in his ass". Well a couple of gay/butt jokes show up and some member who just joined and was named "BassTwat" went off about how kids read this site and noone should ever be making butt jokes and all. It was his first post ever on Talkbass. I simply pointed out that he was named "BassTwat" and really shouldnt throw rocks in his proverbial genitalia house... and btw, kids LOVE butt jokes. His second post was about three posts later where he called us all absurd and lame and went and rage quit the site.. It was astounding. Dont know why the thread got deleted, it was quite comical.

just picked up the new shellac
weston's tone rules

Gotta get this record!! Weston is a BOSS!! Its amazing the tone he gets out of his one knob amp!

Yeah, Ive found them to be very enticing ever since i first saw them come on the scene. I just cant convince myself to drop that kind of coin when Ive never so much as even had a single thing theyve made in my hands. I know how personally comfortable I have to be with a bass to make it a "keeper" that I'd hate to snag one new only to find that its feel or tone just isnt 'me'.

D2 was legendary. What class got deleted? I haven't played in a month or so but last I saw they were all there.
I meant between D2 and D3.

My favorite character class was the Assassin. They didn't make a character class really similar to her at all in the third installment. The Demon Hunter was billed as being similar, but really is only even sort of similar to a traps assassin, and even then, not really. The Demon Hunter isn't even remotely similar to a shadow disciplines/martial arts assassin.

So I posted the album to the outside TB...and first reply says the riffs are too loud and the song is too long. This is a perfect review if you ask me.
What?

How can riffs be "too loud"? If you're listening to stuff on a home stereo, if a song is too loud, you can just turn it down. I mean, if you're some sort of weak-eared old fart, obviously.

That's a good point. I was trying to think of something that didn't fit into one of those categories, and couldn't, besides Firefly.

Lmao, wow.

This site allows kind of a lot of really hateful stuff to fly under the radar. But swearing, no no.
