Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

ImageUploadedByTalkBass1418308698.424228.jpg

Rocked this at practice last night. Just me and the drummer but I haven't played in a month. Good to get rolling again.

Jammed out with the potential guitarist. Went ok. He seems like an alright dude. He likes his sound to be pretty muddy and middy all in my territory though. I'll have to work on him with that.
I really need new strings on that Pbass. Flop central on that A string. Luckily we are playing pretty slow so it sounds ok.
I'm thinking I might want to look into a compressor too. I've never messed with one ever. I just want to try and play it safe with the cab. Since I have been known to get excited and beat on the strings too much. :p
Any suggestions for a decent middle of the road not to expensive compressor? Do they work ok with OD and such? I guess I need to head over to effects. Figured I'd ask here first.

young sparky the art studio mascot got run over tuesday night, which was highly upsetting, because puppy sparks was super cool, playful, and nice
applied on instagram to be one of the beardedpantiedroppers, i suspect i'm too old or the pic might not be machismo enough, we'll see

supposed to do the bdsm band drum loops on sunday, not sure if i can deal with basically doing everything for this band, because i don't think the drummer
has enough of a background in programming or will be able to do any sort of bass playing other than crash sounds, feedback, and static blasts
really into djing a radio show in the desert with this girl i've been kinda friends with, not sure if she's a flaker or what

Tracked some gnar bass last night for Galactic Hatchets upcoming split.

My whole 24" monitor is already filled with PEAVEY PEAVEY PEAVEY and the site is telling me "Click this image to show the full-size version" ***! I'm afraid that if I did click it, my cubicle would suddenly explode with 18" black widows and piles of lead sleds everywhere.

Ocean Chief has best doom vocals, for sure. blasting Sten through my headphones at work today.. it's one of those days.

do any other delays/reverbs except the RE-20 have stereo inputs and outputs? curious.

Man, I loooove Ocean Chief. The insanely high price for their digital downloads was such a shock though that I realize now I stopped listening to them, even though they're free on Spotify lol. So yeah, time to listen to some Ocean Chief for free.

i identify with them a lot, especially when they get past the 'verse' riffs into the instrumental bits. big long doom riff with two to four variations on the main motif. love it.

wow those are some expensive download prices. does it come bundled with merch?

Jmac told me he picked up the Joyo compressor and said it is a subtle compression that he really digs. And they are what $30 bucks?

Not that I could tell, just 7 digital tracks for almost $16 USD. I can't figure out if it's just the exchange rate or if that's really high for Swedes as well. Someone from Sweden tell me if 120 SEK is a lot for 40ish minutes of digital download. I would pay that much for a CD with a nice booklet or something, more for a good vinyl, but for a digital download it seems kind of steep. It's over $2 a track.
