Yep. For a 410 you are still going to spend a ton on drivers to match the performance of other designs.
After hearing OG Wednesday I might try and find one of those vb810s used and do that .5 alignment mod. Sounds awesome.
I was so impressed with that cab. Course allot is done miking and mixing that covers up a multitude of sins.

HOF announce their plans for a new album and they're working with Kurt Ballou again, which is good news because the last album sounded killer.
They seem to be cracking this bad boy out, when I met sleep at music exchange in Chicago, Mat was talking about the new high on fire album exclusively and he bought two guitars for the recording while we were there, Al had mentioned that his ric 4004 would be his recording bass for the new sleep album but that was the end of that convo lol

Listening to Dead Meadow and wondering how I missed them for so many years.
Slow day at work, because I guess everyone just shut down due to the big rainstorms. Most of it didn't hit us, we did get plenty of rain pretty fast and some areas around town got some flooding, the big stuff hit 30ish miles away and farther. December is also just a super slow month at my work, typically. I'm doing Christmas and baby birthday parties all weekend, not terribly looking forward to it. I wish I was able to jam, multiple people offered and I had to turn down or cancel.

Yeah, they can be a bit brutal on price with non-frequent customers. Luckily if you buy enough stuff from them at normal price, you can get their discounted pricing, which is REALLY deep. Like Like 40-50% off list price deep. At that point it's a no-brainer. While Heyboer/Hammond/Etc do make great iron, I truly do feel that if price is no obstacle, Mercury is the "best". Probably not the best bang/buck at normal prices though.
Sergio at Mercury knows his stuff man. While you have no argument from me that they aren't cheap, their use of grain-oriented laminations, Extrememly high temp vacuum impregnated potting epoxy, teflon insulated leads, and 150% over stock powerhandling, I'm hesitant to say it's all fairy dust.
I'm currently doing some testing with their SVT PT/OT/Fil set. A stock SVT is about 300watts or so, Sergio and Patrick assured me that this set can handle 450 without a sweat, which is exactly what I'll be doing. Using KT90's. Muahahahaha! I'm also using WIMA Polypropylene can caps for filter caps too. They're HUUUGE. Nearly the size of a soda can, EACH. ESR should be disgustingly good, and will never need to be re-capped.
I've also used their Soldano SLO100 set, and it truly slays.
The SVT set. Suckers are HUUUUGE. Laminations are a good 5" thick. Smaller middle tranny is for the heaters (this alone is the size of a typical 50W OT). Smaller toroid is the mids inductor.

Running IDs and charging cover while also running a merch booth for some friends for a free trip to a show and to learn how to do all that. Also roadied gear and fixed a bass drum pedal. Also learned how to screen print.

Just got back from catching Sleep play in Sydney. Was going to miss it due to previous plans but they fell through and I was able to score a ticket at the door for a little cheaper. First time seeing them and was instantly blown away from the minute the opened with Dopesmoker and all the way through Dragonaut, The Clarity, Sonic Titan and Holy Mountain. Their 15 minute Marijaunaut tape intro was a bit annoying and dragged out way too long but they made up for it with a healthy 2 hour long set full of the doomiest doom that ever doomed. Of the three, the drummer was absolutely phenomenal. His kit sounded to fat and resonated beautifully. Matt Pike was on point as ever, playing through two Orange heads paired with four matching Orange 4x12 cabs and a Marshall JCM head paired with a macthing Marshall 4x12. Al was rocking two SVT classics through two Ampeg fridges and then a Mesa Doube Rectifier head with matching Mesa 4x12 for his blended dirty channel with his trusty Ric in hand. Seriously, why even have a PA at that point? But the soundguy did an amazing job and everyone sounded great (unlike the jerk who shaged up High on Fire's sound earlier in the year). All in all a fantastic show and so glad I ended up going. Great show to end the year on.
