I think outside of looking for tube break up, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the Carvin, and a clean tube amp.
Our first big Denver show is this Saturday! Woohoo! Guitar player broke his foot/ankle and is going for surgery in like 6 hours. So, he'll be on a stool. Guess I get to roam the stage like a madman. I'm freaking excited!
So the order goesi'd play full SS before any hybrid. most hybrids are gimmicks, the tube doesn't add anything and is never run with the required voltages. There are exceptions of course but in general i have preferred SS over hybrid every single time.
That's true on bass for most tube amps, can't tell a difference unless it's dirty tubes, and usually then I don't like it (playing through guitar amps).
On guitar most solid state sounds really bad for clean to me, needs a little something. Bass vi was like a guitar to me, it sounded off through my bass amp, but great into the crate v50 that I sold.
Black boot of DOOM!
So the order goes
All Tube.
Freeze to death in the vacuum of space.
Solid state.
Hybrid?
I havent gotten a bridge yet. Im waiting for my labella flats for it first, which are backordered or some shvt. Then with the new strings ill see if the bridge really needs changing. If it does i think i may go with the Straytrem bridge.@mc_muench
Hey what bridge did you get for your bass vi.
It's time I rebuild mine I'm getting stir crazy. I need new switches to enable series, a bridge (mastery, mustang or tremsomething forget name). Also a Mexican jazzmaster tremolo for the screw in arm.
This is outdated as hell but here's the last list I had.

wow, lots of people on there that we don't see around here anymore.
Yeah, you cross my name off of that band list.
Corey, you and I should start a club or something.
Yeah like LOCO, Beebass, Demon, thumbo, OldCrow...miss those guys.
That was back when i only had like 2 amps and 2 cabs haha. I remember telling Beebass that i will have biggest rig. I think I gotta be close to him at this point.
I just signed up for dental insurance for our whole family, just like a big boy. Very affordable, way more so than the projected out of pocket expense for the rest of my fillings. I have to switch dentists, but oh well.
Hear ye, hear ye, this meeting of the sad dudes with no band club is now in session. First on the agenda, grown up talk about insurance and babies and why doesn't anyone like GOOD music anymore?
Back in my day we used to drag our gear to open mics and play 3-song sets of stoner rock to confused singer/songwriters!
I saw QOTSA in a tiny club with 15 people in the audience!
First time I opened for Weedeater Dixie Dave still had dreadlocks!
We used to have to pick up the telephone, call clubs and ask to be booked - we'd record ******-sounding demos to cassette 4-track, burn them to CD and hand them out for free in the hope that some dickhead hipster bartender would listen to 30 seconds of it and give us an opening spot for a show at 11:00 on a tuesday night. AND WE WERE GRATEFUL!
EDIT: DENTAL INSURANCE CAN PAY FOR ITSELF WITH ONE OFFICE VISIT!
Oh man, when I got the quote for the year (premium) for 3 of us and saw the copay amounts, it was a nobrainer. I wish I had signed up for new insurance right after our old one through my wife's work lapsed. It probably would have saved most of last year's gear fund.
