It's a Warwick Corvette $$ Rockbass, it's passive, VVT with pull pots for parallel/series, and I LOVE HAVING A WARWICK AGAIN!!!!
So, I walked in hoping to walk out with $150 left for the Mojo Hand Colossus, well I didn't. I saw that Warwick hanging there and thought to myself, "Max dont play it, you know if you play it you'll walk out with it." See, I used to have a Warwick FNA that broke so I sold it. Well, I played it. Got an even trade. So it didn't cost me any. Fuzz can wait, I got that Warwick tone back baby, and I feel whole again!!!
Got band practice again tonight, we'll see how she growls.
Nice! I absolutely love my Warwick. There's something about that growl that fits my playing perfectly. Plus they're heavy as a boat anchor.
holy shizz these threads hit 1,000 posts fast as all hell! Speaking of strings(from the end of last thread),I need to buy a new set for my `70s Lyle hollow body. It`s such a comfy short scale bass(and although it doesn`t handle down tunings super well), I love playing fuzzed out doomy riffs on it.But my strings are so dead it sounds like one of those broom stick thru a wash tub type basses. Way,way too thumpy.

Yeah, I gotta give you guys some props, I'm more of a black/thrash/death/crust-guy myself (allthough I do like me some Sleep, Electric Wizard, Om and High On Fire), but I love lurking these stoner/doom threads, you've got a great vibe going! Keep it up!
So I thought I was going to order a Rat Tail but I think I'm leaning towards the Oh See Demon. I owned a V3 OCD and thought it was great but it was too mid forward for me. Is the OSD the same or is it a little more flat?
Sooo... I'm thinking of finally buying my first fuzz pedal! Yeah I know, what have I been doing all this time :S.
I'll be honest with you guys, I was never an effects guy until recently, so all this time I was focusing my sound more towards vintage P tone. Which leads to my point...
I have almost no idea how effects, pedals, pedalboards and all that stuff exactly work, not on basses at least, so I would really appreciate any tips you guys can give me before my first purchase.
Anywho, I am leaning towards a mojo hand colossus which will cost me about 100 pounds to ship it from the US. I know a few guys here have this, so I am wondering if it would be an overkill and should go for something cheaper/more simple now and slowly move my way up to better equipment or just invest into something solid that I will enjoy till I break it.
Oh, I have a MIA P with .110 La Bella flats and just a simple [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], but obviously I am going after some ampeg once I have cash to spend (not in the near future though
). About the fuzz I am going after, well I don't have anything set in stone so I would love a pedal that offers a few different options, but obviously it has to be DOOM enough above all else!
Pardon me if I come off as a complete newb who has no idea what he wants apart from spending money
, but any advice would be great!

My opinion, flats and fuzz dont work too well a lot of the time, I find it too easy to get too farty. Fuzz needs a lot of sustain to sing, most flats can't get you there. some can make it work but I haven't.
I suggest you go with rounds or look for an overdrive pedal instead. Flats and OD are an easier to use combo in my experience.

Well, my dear friend, it's a rather funny/frustrating story. I paid just over $2,000 for it, but it was shipped with UPS. They did their thing and dropped it. Hard. I got it home, opened the box, and took off the padded cover. I almost threw up. The wood was separated, the chassis was bent in spots, and it was just a mess. I contacted the seller immediately and after a few days of dealing with UPS, he reimbursed me and UPS reimbursed him. Originally, he was supposed to get the money from UPS and send it to me. We both ended up with the money and I got to keep the amp. He said he didn't care if I sent it back, but we were both upset.
I never brought it to a tech because around here because I knew the shops would charge me some ridiculous amount. Luckily, last year my buddy told me about a tech who works out of his house and lives 15 minutes away from me. I had to bring my guitar amp to him so I figured it wouldn't hurt to have him look at the SVT.
He called me up today and told me it was running and sounding great. The problem was exactly what he had expected. A jumper cable. He told me it was $28.75, but when I got there he told me $25 was fine because he "forgot to print an invoice".
Long story short: UPS destroyed it during shipping. The seller and I were both reimbursed and I got to keep the amp with it. The tech got it working for $25 and even fixed the the bent parts (i.e. the grill protecting the tubes).
What did I learn from all of this? Never be afraid to buy an amp online!

Yeah, I pretty much thought the same until I saw this review where he uses a P with flats and NP4 pups (like I do) and I found out it can sound quite good! But rounds are not thrown out of the window either, I have a spare set that I can try and even set up the bass with them if I decide I like them more.

Check out Braymarion. It is a track that opens way up and lets me do my thing. That is a 75 ibanez Pbass with a Bluebeard fuzz into an SVT VR and I think it sounds killer. I've tweaked the sound a bit more to my liking since. However it is definitely true that flats are not very effects friendly. However if you love flats like me, you can find pedals that work well with them. Unfortunately I can't recommend any other fuzz pedals that I've tried with flats, because I haven't. Bluebeard was the first fuzz I ever bought and luckily I found the holy grail without even having to leave my house.
After further reading I think I'm going to drop the Genz idea and run down an SVT 7 Pro. Seems like it is much more suited to my style. I am curious to see how one sounds compared to my VR, although I likely won't get one until after I get my dually, as it won't really matter how it sounds with the bass bombs!

doomis the mojo hand is pretty cool. I got one and it's like a better version of the black russian muff. The Bluebeard is awesome. I found one used and didn't have to wait forever to get one. The Grey Stache is another popular pedal that a lot of people like. I like the Supercollider too. If it was me I'd go Bluebeard or Supercollider. But I don't think you can go wrong with the Mojo Hand

I got a M6 mesa for a backup but wouldn't mind that powerhouse or whatever its called mesa makes
I ended up with the pro series proline cable. After doing some research on Mogami, I found out that they make cables for other companies (like Eminence makes speakers for other companies), anyways it's the exact same cable as the Mogami. I told the dude in GC about it and he was all like, "Yeah , I always thought they looked similar". So, looks like I ended up with nice cable for about $30 less than the Mogami. $40 spent. I told my wife that my GAS was almost gone. I just need a guitar stand, pikcs, strings, and maybe a cleaning kit. I didn't think to ask if Carvin includes one or not. Corey, did yours?
