I think you are taking a far too simplistic view of the AA 12 steps.
You can think what you like, but as someone who has been involved with recovering alcoholics, on a deeply personal level, since the age of 14 (I am 50), I think I might have some insight that you are lacking.
To sum up the AA "cure" as God misses a great deal of what an alcoholic in the program really needs to do to stay sober.
If the answer was simply "God", why don't they all just go to church? The answer - Because it ain't that simple.
I'm not being simplistic. I'm quoting the 12 steps word for word.
But let me see if I understand what you're saying. AA isn't a cure, per se, it's an ongoing treatment. Sort of like HIV drugs.
