STREAMER LX5 VS CORT ARTISAN A5

STREAMER LX5 or CORT A5

Yes, it is a German Streamer and yes, it is seriously cheap.

I have found it in an European shop that sells retail but also has a modest web site.
The bass is from 2006 so I guess that´s the reason for the incredible price. They have not sold it in 5 years and they want to make room for more stuff...

The only thing that worries me a bit is that I would have to pay via bank transfer. No Ebay, no Paypal.
The web site looks good and they have always answered my e-mails (not very quickly sometimes).

On the other hand, the Cort is being sold by a Powerseller on Ebay.
If it was the other way around I would not be asking...
I also live in Europe so if something bad happened I could always take a low-cost flight to the shop and burn it down, coudn´t I ?

What would you do?

This smells like a rip off to me so I say buy the Cort only because you will have absolutely NO recourse by paying with a bank transfer. Do some careful investigation on the seller if you decide to go with the wick.

I have contacted the Italian Warwick distributor (the shop is in Italy) and they have told me that this particular shop is one of the best in Italy.

I am going to ask the shop the reason why the bass is so cheap.
I know it is a stupid question because they can answer whatever they want, but I want to see how they react.

I am seriously thinking about taking the risk and buy the WW...

One of my favourite bassists is Dick Lovgren (Meshuggah) and he is a bona fide Warwick man. However, as a Cort A4 user, and having tried a few Warwicks, the Cort sings to me in a way the Warwick couldn't. The feel, tone, weight, construction...everything about it makes it just great for ME. If you can't test drive them, I'd say go for the Cort. But of course this is only my opinion and wick fans will say otherwise.

Good luck. Either way I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The Streamer LX is now made in Korea and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are made by Cort for Warwick.

The Streamer LX will have a much better resale value than the Cort. The Cort has some very nice features(neck through/ hipshot hardware/ Bartolini pick ups and preamp) and would very likely be a quality bass for the money.

not entirely true. The proline series is made in korea. There is a german made streamer LX still in production

Buy that warwick now before I start googling Italian webshops. :) It sounds like a good deal, and only a few years ago I had to wire to an account for most web purchases I made in Germany. It's not that out of the ordinary.
