hey, i was looking around old posts and nothing could answer my questions well, so here i go: whats the advantages and disadvantages of low and high string tensions? what is better for slapping? what is better for a jazzy sound? thanks.

String Tensions

I think it's more about what feels best to you than anything else. Some people prefer stiffer strings, some don't. To me, I like the stiffer strings. Hex core rather than round core. Round core feels too twangy to me, like rubber bands.
Its a matter of personal preference IMO. I like nickel roundwounds with round or hex cores (bright), and lighter gauges for less tension. Easier to bend
