String through body or bridge?

2012 US Jazz bass, through the body. Switched to Hipshot Kickass bridge which is highly rated. Set up with new strings from luthier as well. Seems to be lacking the sustain with the Hipshot, hard to say for sure. Also put in Seymour Duncan Apollo noiseless pickups. I watched the excellent video by GHS Strings bridge comparison YouTube video that a member posted and it’s next to impossible to discern a difference. When I compared the Fender Jazz bass to my Jack Bruce Artist Series Warwick bass, the clarity and the articulation on the Warwick was simply incredible. The notes rang clear and forever, all the way up the 24 fret neck. The Fender just had a thud tone to it, useable but certainly inferior. I certainly could have opted without the high mass Hipshot bridge and just left the string-through stock Fender bridge. And ignored the StewMac 5 star reviews.

You change three different elements at once and try to blame a lack of sustain on ONE of the elements? Get outta here.
