I love nickel plated rounds, never been good in bible!
Just a question. Why not use half-rounds on the precision.?
the reason I ask is that I have always used half rounds on my precision (1973 which I bought new)) and i haven't experienced any damage & I just put them on my MIM Jazz- It's a great sound although I have never used rotosounds.

If you're looking for nickel rounds I would say check out Fender 7150's pure nickel for a nice P-tone.

The Fender nickel plated rounds are nice as well and cost about half of many other rounds.

I have yet to try the new 7150's, but the old ones were nice. Less harsh than regular rounds and nice little mid bump. The mediums were fairly stiff, as I recall, however the lights lived up to their name.

Then use them. Refret if you have too. I went to TI Jazz Flats on my 61 due to fret ware but I love the sound and feel. If you want that in your face Roto sound, try the nickels. They will be somewhat easier on the frets but they will eventually eat them as well. But I suspect you will hear some difference (how much and does it matter is up to you).
I agree; I'm fond of Roto 66's nickels + Duncan single coil (SCPB2). Rotosound can be found on sale if you look. Classic

Your bass might sound fabulos with old flats, but if one like the sound of not too old rounds which still have some zing in them, then then only rounds will do.
