Unfortunately, for me; yes, it does matter. I'm sort of allergic to D'Addario strings (the electric bass/guitar ones, anyway). Something in the final polishing/finishing process they use, makes my hands and fingers itch like crazy after 10 minutes or so. Which is why I don't use them, even though they
are nice strings. So, if somebody's strings are rebranded D'Addarios (like, say Fenders (?), or some Rickenbacker strings), I'm... hesitant.. about using them. I
can use them if I spend 15-20 minutes cleaning the bejeezus out of them first, with alcohol and 1,1,1 Trichlorothane (which is not real user-friendly); but trying to play while waiting for the itchies to start is kind of distracting...
