Double Bass Strunal Endpin?

My Strunal bass has an endpin that won't come out it is made with a little rivet at the end so you can't remove the endpin- does that mean I have to remove the entire assembly to replace the endpin? The reason I am asking is because the current endpin only has 3 notches for height adjustment and my ideal height is right in between that.

Strunal endpins are pretty bad. It would be worth investing in a better endpin. That's one component of these basses that could use an immediate upgrade.
