The reason I'm asking is that I think that as far as pedals go, these Strymons are pretty much "out there" in terms of price, complexity, and sound-pallet, and although I really like effects, this combination puts these strictly in the do-not-buy zone, at least for me at the current time, but OTOH, I would really like to hear what people are doing with them, and then, maybe... GAS will take over :)

I can say that after buying the Mobius I sold a pretty cool tremolo a decent chorus and a boutique flanger. After a,b test I could not justify having them. I did a, b test after realizing I had not played any of the three pedals once I had the Mobius. Big Sky and Timeline are great but I might have gotten away with one of the smaller Strymon options, maybe. I do wish they made a bass version similar to Mobius. Love to hear what they would do designing with a lower frequency in mind. Until then I'm not discarding the Mobius.

Any suggestions on ambit settings for Timeline, Bigsky and Mobius set up? I use swell and cloud settings to some success and I know it is just a matter of playing with them to find what I like. That said I am beginner level on ambit textures and am looking for a few good starting points.

I've got mine setup as Mobius into Timeline into Big Sky, the Swell feature on either the Mobius or the Timeline going into any of the Cloud, Shimmer or Chorale presets is a killer place to start. I am really digging the Good Morning Preset into the High Pass into any of the Cloud pre's.

I love this grey sky pre set. I pull the decay back a bit to get a little more definition on bass, but otherwise it's perfect. So I just realized that the cabinet sim on the back of the big sky, if engaged, is always active. Even if the BigSky is off. At first I didn't like the idea of having a 1x12 guitar cab sim in my chain. But I tried it out with clean, overdrive and fuzz tones and it sounds excellent. I'm definitely gonna keep it engaged. It actually really compliments the Rusty Box. Weird how a reverb pedal just re-shaped my clean tone.

Good call on the Grey Skies preset, hadn't really spent much time with this one. Sounds fantastic. Just tried the cab filter, the difference was definitely noticeable, when you find out the exact effect from Strymon please let us know!

Long time user of the El' Capistan here. Previously also had the Flint, but sold it to get something else at the time...
The one thing i like the best with Strymon, is the fact you can hook up an exp-pedal to work with any knob on the pedal. I can't say I've found any other pedals than Strymon doing that.
I guess i use the elcapo for craziness and feedback drones with my band. And ambient stuff at home recordings with long feedbacky repeats. But with the drive turned up so that i can keep the self oscillation in check.
Just love that pedal!

Another Capistan user here! Like Mr. Voodoobass, I generally use it sparingly for textured noisiness or swelling oscillations to bridge songs together live. I also use it for more ambient stuff at home with both bass and guitar, and plan to start incorporating more of that into new songs as we write more. I love how many sounds there are in the Capistan with all the tweakable parameters- I even used to use it for a light vibrato in one song by turning the Delay Time to minimum and the Mix to Delay only with a touch of the spring reverb and some Wow/Flutter dialed in. I need to get/make a Favorite switch so I can bring that back again!

In the future I'd love to own a Dig and a Blue Sky at some point!

To be honest I don't think they need to, but maybe a few upgrades would be nice with the next firmware update maybe?
The Mobius is pretty damn nice for us bass players, but its a pity that the destroyer sucks out so much low end. It's pretty much unusable for me...
The filter section might end up being another stand-alone pedal aimed at us bass players perhaps?
