Studio 615 gets renovated for 2011!!!

Seriously though, this is a very well-done project that makes me envy you a lot. I wish I had room for something like that (and money, time).

Well, so far the studio has been a pleasant place to work. We have gotten much more done in the space than we could have imagined. Work flow is better, sound is better and to be honest, the atmosphere is better.

My brothers house was hit with a tree in a bad storm, and his insurance cut him a check. I would have loved to see all of it go to gear, but alas, some repairs were ordered.

At any rate, we acquired some new toys, and I'll update what we have so far.

First up is the new vocal preamp. We chose this piece for the instrument side, as well as a mic preamp. Tons of options for getting a great sound, and all analog.

Next up, we have an interesting guitar amp, which I am surprised we never knew about before. This can go from the cleanest of clean, to the dirtiest of dirty, and everything inbetween...

And finally, the best score of them all... $280 on craigslist...

Just curious, I thought I saw some smoke blowing across the screen?

Also, how much does your room acoustics cut the sound to the outside? Do your neighbors complain?

We registered 117dB in the room with a set of high end stereo speakers and a 200 watt amp, measured by a dB meter.

Outside, we got 73dB one foot from the windows. The windows are standard glass house frames, with a floating plexiglass outer window sealed with silicone.

And yes, in the video, there is some smoke blowing across the screen.

My Full rack (6000 watts of power!!!)

Pedal Board shot (B:assmaster and Mastotron are new)

New KRK Rokit 10 Sub (On Auralex isolation pad)

New handmade speaker stands. Still not finished. The bottoms and tops are 12" square cabinet grade Oak. The PVC is schedule 40 4", and held together with 3/8" threaded rod. The PVC is filled with sand and both ends are sealed. They are 100% isolated and sit a good 15" higher.

That is all for now. Just finished laying down a pretty complex song tonight. Every section had a different configuration of dirt, and some fed through the Filter Factory for some super awesome sweeps. Once the song is close to done, or at least tracked and mixed, I'll share the link.

It is a TC Electronics volume knob. You run your balanced line out into the knob, than out of the knob into the sub, than out of the sub to the mains. Allows complete control with no degradation of quality.
