Stupid Pickguard Poll!

Is it possible for you to find a mint pickguard for that bass? I just swapped my parchment guard for mint and it was a life-altering experience I tell you. My tone at least doubled by its mere presence.

This. About 15 minutes before Squier came out with the new burst-n-tort VM fretless I went through a bunch of effort to add a tort guard to my guardless fretless. (This is what I bought for reference Fender/Squier 006-9953-000 Genuine Fender Squier 3 Ply Tortoise Jazz J Bass Pickguard

Point being, it took some grinding to get it to fit. Not a big deal but @InstantEctobass is very wise to point that out.

If you go black, change the pickup cover to white.

Other options include state flag, road map, comics from Sunday paper, pages from your favorite book, steal the Declaration of Independence (or use a copy from the gift shop), remove pickguard and make a control plate from wood, craft felt glued to pickguard, random artwork with some Sharpies, signatures from all your friends and family, bring white pickguard to an art school and tell them to be creative. The options are endless!

White, parchment, mint green - all of those, under stage lighting, are gonna look pretty much the same. If you want people to see the pickguard (that's what they'll focus on under stage lighting) then keep it white or some variation. If you want them to see the wood, make the pickguard black, and their eyes will be drawn to the wood.

Thanks. Went through this with my Affinity too, had to file the guard a little and put in some new holes. So I figured as much.

Pickgaurdian has been great for me to work with and can deal with those issues, but good to be aware. My preferences on that bass...

Some useful design perspective! That's probably why I prefer black on sunburst, my eye is drawn to the wood!

Black is my vote. I put an anodized on my Squire 3ts pj and now I HATE it. I don't know why. Liked it at first. Now I hate it. I just ordered a tort for shirts and giggles. I'm liking that mint earlier in this thread, too, but black always looks boss on a sunburst p.

....but I personally went with “Vintage Tort” from China on Sunburst....and I like it...$5.00

Already done. (from a previous thread on a similar topic)

Very easy to operate and understand. No user manual required. And only $5.99 from the App Store. (pretty sure I can make this work on Android or iOS) Just spin it and see what it picks for you.

I'd dig that on a solid bass. I think that's why I dont like tort on sunburst (Sorry Father, I have sinned) 2 patterns is too busy!

I agree here. I don’t like tort on sunburst either. I prefer black or gold anodized on sunburst.
