If you want to know the reason I like bass, here it is...
I used to play the trumpet... I was in all different kinds of bands... When in school I was in every band there was to offer... Concert Band,Jazz Band, and even a Combo..... I've always liked Jazz... And the bass is something that almost always sticks out in jazz... From the get go I knew that bass was the instrument for me... Because, I was in two jazz bands I learned fairly quick that the bass is what gave us that "swing".Then the drums and the other instruments, Tenor Sax, Alto Sax, Trombone, and trumpet....
I was'nt knocking you... I was just questioning if it was the instrument for you... I've heard of alot of Guitar players who switched to Bass to find that they were too busy and never had good timing.. They were all over the place etc, Your right I don't know you... But my point is that some E.guitarists find the transition difficult others do not... I only said what I said because you did'nt know that it was the main force in keeping a band together... It's the low end.... and in jazz it's even more important...
I'm not knocking you buddy, I was just questioning your reasoning for wanting to play... You know what.. You'll probably do just fine.. And I truely hope you do... It just seemed odd to me that by 19 you did'nt already know it's purpose...
I guess I was just always draw to the bass, I've always tried to pick out the basslines in songs, but that's just me....

And hey, if it does'nt suit you.. you can at least say you tried... But you never know it could just be the instrument for you...
