Yes, the earliest versions of Submarine (maybe the first 20 or so) didn't have boost. The gain was at unity regardless of the input signal.
Needless to say, I can mod it for free to your liking (boost - no boost - some boost). Just shoot a PM to my way.

Just want to update everyone who read this thread. I bought an old Submarine off a TB member which did not have volume boost. Musicelectronix said he would be happy to mod my Submarine to MK3 specs at no cost. I sent it off to him and a week later I got it back! How awesome is that! To say this company has great customer service is an understatement, he helped me out and I wasnt even a customer!!!

This is by far my most favorite pedal. The circuitry would make a killer DI pedal. Two foot switches, a Fingerstyle setting and a Slap setting. Simple and sounds so good.
