Hi,
I'm not using any amps at the moment. I have an assortment of multi effects, Boss, Zoom but I do have an EBS Microbass II preamp as you mentioned. With the limited space I have in the living room, headphones and aux in are a must! I really like Tech 21 products but I can't seem to get those guys to add headphone out and aux in to their stuff!

If you want to use Tech 21 with headphones can purchase Great headphone amp like PJB Bighead can get original used for about $100 to $150(new 2 version $399)

Plug Tech 21 into PJB which also has auxiliary input that is Stereo so great for just listening to Music

Very small also and USB charging

@agedhorse great pedal brother.
This was an impulse purchase but having 1st hand experience with other products designed by Andy I was very confident it would be a winner. And it is just that a winner.

I do not have enough experience with Subway Series Bass amps to say if its true to that tone. But I do know its fantastic makes your playing fun in word a enjoyable. Tons of versatility, Punchy, Thick, & Transparent. Also handles pedals great has plenty of headroom. Penny for Penny at this price point hands down easily one of the best pre-amp DI on the market. I highly recommend this pedal.

Are you sending the monitor mix into the aux input? If so, be sure that the balanced monitor send from the board terminates in a 1/4" tip-sleeve plug and NOT a 1/4" TRS, otherwise the signal will be very weak and thin.

Please provide your complete signal routing path.

I'm not sure I understand your signal chain/use case....can you share more specifics.

Yes, what your monitor mix should consist of is a mix minus bass, then you blend in the mix minus with the bass through the preamp, that way you have complete mix at the headphone output.

That's much easier to understand than what I was trying to explain.

Just got home from the gig. Really dug the preamp. Like...Really. I used the setting @Pep shared to start with. Ands then really didn't change much after that. The DI was dead quiet. And the headphone amp was very clean. I'd say cleaner than my Rolls.

Mesa has a winner with this one.

Very interesting! I'm gonna try this.
@agedhorse I guess this would also work with the 800D too if I wanted that sound( with no speakers connected to the amp).

My situation is the same. Headphones have become the norm these days. If you like ebs you’d like mesa. It sounds similar especially with the cab sim on it gets close to the subway. I keep the ebs around for when I want that tone. It seems to be the special tone with my Warwick that I like most and I might still want it to pair with an amp. Something that you can do on any pedal is get a 1/4” adapter and run the headphones from the output. Also if it has a di you can get a di to 1/4” adapter and that really helps get headphones to work with almost anything.

Likewise the XB Driver for me! (If Tech 21 had delayed delivering the XBD by a few more months, I might have skipped it altogether!)

Have a handful of preamp/DIs... Ampeg SCR-DI & SGT-DI, the XBD, an English Muffy, and now the Subway+ II. While I have no complaints about any of the previous preamps; for me, they do what they do with varying degrees of success. Some were well researched... at least one was more or less an impulse buy.

The Subway+ II is my first Mesa purchase, and it really shines! As mentioned in previous posts, it's dead quiet, extremely versatile, and perfectly priced! Thanks very much to @agedhorse and Gibson/Mesa for delivering a gem of a preamp

So have any of you kids tried this blending of the two preamps? The Subway+ DI with your on-board amp’s preamp, with either an ABY switch box, or like me. Bass into my WD (or your amp), turner out from WD into Subway+ DI bass input, Subway + DI preamp out into WD (or your amps) Aux in. Then use the mute switches on either one to tune each one off or on or leave them both on and blend the two by means of the Master on the DI with the Gain on the amp?

I find the blending thing to be very cool. The interaction of the two together is something that I would encourage each one to try at least...
