Suggest a round core roundwound string

Round cores:
DR Pure Blues (warm with subdued growl)
DR sunbeams (warmth but a little more bite than growl)

Hex (thinner) core that feel like round core:
D’addario NYXL’s (to me, more dynamic bite and growl than the DR’s but less warmth)

My passive bass’s get DR’s or LaBella tapewounds. My active bass’s all wear NYXL’s.
Cool - I’ve got Pure Blues on my Jazz now and like them, and I have a set of NYXLs waiting to try next, though the Blues seem to be lasting quit a long while (sounds like a song).

I'll agree with what several others have said. BTW, I have 9 basses, and each string I'm about to mention is on at least one bass.

If GHS Round Core Bass Boomers are too dark, as you say, then you may not find the TI Jazz Rounds to be bright enough. DR Sunbeams or Pure Blues might be the way to go. I didn't really like the Sunbeams on my jazz bass; I do like them on my Stingray. For my jazz bass I like the Pure Blues.

I'm just getting back into digging roundwounds. I usually use nickel coated rounds. I've been using GHS Boomers and really like the sound, but are a bit stiffer than I prefer. The round core version is a darker string than I want. Are the LaBella roundwounds a round core? I love LaBella flats and tapes. What do you into?

LaBella Rx are round wound. Low tension feel, like Dunlop SuperBrights are renown for. Not “Boomers” sounding though.

The usual suspects are: DR Hi-Beams, Fat Beams, Pure Blues and Sunbeams.

If you're open to strings with a thinner hex core for that slinkier and more flexible feel, another possibility is SIT Foundations. Folks say they're very similar to Dunlop Super Brights.

My go to string has been DR Fat Beams for the past couple years. Low tension round cores do call for a different attack to avoid fret buzz. You can't play hard but you can dig in, it's weird. On my Jazz bass, I can hit it using a Steve Harris type attack and it won't buzz but if I play normally I have be careful or it will fret out. I can dig in like Geddy Lee and get a cool grindy tone as well.
This is with pretty low action so YMMV.

Another vote for Fodera Nickels. Love them on my Monarch.

Yep... Fodera Nickels or DR Sunbeams. Just take note that Fodera no longer offers XL length strings as a 'stock' option if you need that for either extended scale or thru-body. I would still be using Fodera strings, but according to them I'd have to order in bulk and that's more strings than I'd need in several years, so I switched to DR.
