I've been a fan of Sugi Guitar's basses since the bassist in one of my fav band uses it. I emailed them and apparently they'll be at the next NAMM. Now I really want to go to NAMM D:

Sugi Guitar's Basses

I cheked out some of their basses at the last NAMM show I attended a few years back. Nice stuff and they had the best rig there. Hadn't heard anything about them since.
I've heard/seen them played by Ju-ken and they seem awesome. I'd love to try one. Who can resist bat inlays?

Do they sound like typically passive jazz basses? I heard it played live but the equalization was horrible so the bass was kinda muffled.
I just love the wood they used for the one I showed in the first post.
The basses I played were all active. They sounded nice, natural not overly active like some basses.
