Yes I believe the 70's spacing is a custom order. And this bass was a custom order,(colour,preamp,pickup spacing etc)I believe that any Suhr bass that is not on their website IE The classic J and the classic J Antique is a custom order.

I would like to know if someone has replaced the bridge of a Suhr classic J to put another bridge with a string spacing of 20 mm instead of the 19mm that is in series.
The length of the last fret being 61mm (please confirm) this must be borderline feasible.
Your opinion ?

Im not sure what you mean by 61 mm from the last fret.? . the threaded saddles probably allows you to change the string spacing to 20mm.. This is nuance stuff imo. Its a jazz bass with normal Jazz bass string spacing. I never like to overthink stuff bud. But if you need to string space it to 20 mm I'm sure the Suhr standard bridge will do it.

61 mm is the length of the last fret. I prefer a 20 mm spacing. As the length of the last fret is 61mm I need to be sure that a spacing of 20mm will fit before I buy the bass.
The original bridge is fine if you don't change the string spacing.
However, I don't trust it in the long term if I move the strings in the threaded saddles which seem too small.
I prefer in this case to use a Hipshot bridge with adjustable string spacing instead....(like the kick'ass bridge).
If you can already play on this bass with 20mm of string spacing, it's already a good news, but I have to be sure about it.
Has anyone ever spaced the strings with 20mm string spacing on a Suhr Classic J?
If anyone can measure and verify the length of the last fret (people have told me 61mm) please let me know if you found the same length of the last fret ?

My custom Suhr was ordered with the old school threaded saddles./bridge which are brilliant in all honesty. I have no problem getting the strings to pull out that far to 20mm without any off the neck nonsense. I can send pics if you want.. Imo I love the BBOT style as its a small bridge, I'm not a fan of high mass bridge because I think high mass bridges absorbe too much energy from the strings. Its a bit like a signal chain, the less in the way the better the single/vibration can get through to the body etc etc.

Hello,
I hesitate between two Suhr basses which are the following.
Knowing that it will be a bass intended for the sound Funk and the slap in particular.
The first Suhr is a bass with an alder body and a rosewood fingerboard.
It is second hand at a good price and I can therefore, by the intervention of a luthier, move the bridge pickup which is in position 60's to put it in position 70's.
The second Suhr is new, with the body in swamp ash and the fingerboard in maple.
It will keep its bridge pickup position in 60's though.
My question is: in your opinion, for the funk/slap sound I'm looking for, which bass do you think is better?
One with the body in alder and the fingerboard in rosewood but with the bridge pickup position in 70's, OR, one with the body in swamp ash and the fingerboard in maple, but with the bridge pickup position in 60's.

I agree. I previously had some Humphreys in mine. Couldnt get any Suhr single coils at the timeso i changed them for some Aguilar single coils. Blown away by them and still well, hum phrey.

I'm thinking of going for a Suhr rather than a Sadowsky because the Suhr's neck profile is very nice for me, and the Suhr has a bridge with which you can choose the string spacing!
I also like the sound of the Sadowsky's.
