Summer Build Off 2022 - Get Ready!

I like the partial lines over the side of the board also. Totally stole it from someone here… Beej or Jish maybe?
A few custom shops offer it. IIRC off the top of my head Sandberg and Maruszczyk, definitely others. Ibanez and NS Design do something similar by putting tiny position dots at the top of the fretboard, but between the two lowest strings rather than right on the edge.

One plank is well into the single digits, 5-7%. The other is about the same except where theres a cluster of figuring, it's about 10%.

Think this will be an issue?

"Liked" your post, but that doesn't mean "yes", because I know nothing about that?... ;) Nice wood!

Have seen "partial" lines on fretless before, and believe it's a sharp look, but prefer properly positioned side markers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, D12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, D24). You're the only one that needs a reference?... :D

Cheers,

quick mockup of what I'm thinking... changed colours, changed pickguard to be more Thunderbirdy
Pretty sure I'm going to go fretless, and maybe just do a single line at the 12th fret? Looks weird, maybe a side dot at 12th instead

Wow, there is no way I could play with only a marker at the 12th! My playing is bad enough with markers at every position! Here's how I marked mine.

oh, I really like those circles - especially on the top!

I haven't played fretless in forever, and never played very much to begin with. I think it'll be tough with no markers for a while, but I just prefer the clean look. This is my main bass - went with front markers because I thought I liked the idea of just bare wood, then ended up loving the look
*edit* yeah, I know I need to give the bass and floor a clean

I experimented with a smaller speaker enclosure design a long time ago. 5-1/4" Akai woofers from one of those cheap 90s home stereo systems.
The enclosures were 120* 6 sided. Looked like a symmetrical superman symbol from the top.
Clamp that!

I just ordered the stuff I’m gonna use to finish my bass. Hopefully, it ends up looking cool.

The only thing I think I’m missing now is some copper shielding tape. Unless there’s somewhere I can order a small jar of shielding paint that would be enough for just a couple of basses.
