Summer Build Off 2022 - Get Ready!

Did a thing! Got some canary wood, should definitely have a couple necks between this and the padauk! Wanted just a small board to get a couple pieces, but this is what made sense to grab.

Also grabbed clamps, ordered a truss rod, and rasp from Solo Music, and a radiused ebony board from LMII

The enclosures were 120* 6 sided. Looked like a symmetrical superman symbol from the top.

I think a made a quick n dirty jig. If I remember correctly, I think it was just a cradle to hold 3 pieces at a time until the glue dried.

My plans are absolutely solidified since I have all the parts I need for exactly one (1) bass. Assembly category. Excited to see what everyone has planned regardless of the outcomes.

Two Things:

1. turns out first day of summer is today this year. No idea why I put down June 22 except that's what Google told me months ago. My google-fu sucks. So the SBO will begin today. I updated the first post already.

2. I got called back into work today from vacation to address some urgent crap. Yay health care slavery! On top of that, I got spirited into a 1500h meeting that ends at 1600h. So then I have to drive home and post up the start thread. It will be closer to 1630h, my apologies.

The good news is, everyone gets an extra 23.5 hours!

The good news is, everyone gets an extra 23.5 hours!

Just my luck. SBO starts at 00:30 BST and I'm away all day tomorrow. I'll be home in time to take a wood pile photo but it will be too late to make any noise.

It is way past midnight here, and I'm in bed. But I'm wide awake, for (if my calculations are correct) the Build Off starts in half an hour!

So I'm running back and forth between my bed and my workshop, measuring, calculating. Do I have enough of this wood? Do I need to buy more? I haven't thought this aspect through very well, have I?

In other ways, I've prepared myself quite well. The new workshop is not fully finished, but usable. I've taken two weeks off work (from next Monday) and few appointments, so I can make a good start. I've also built two mockups.

And last but not least, I've told everyone around me what I plan to do, so there's no going back!

So now I'll jump in and hope for the best.

Dammit, now I have to work overtime! Don't they understand the build-off is more impo'tent?!

I have to work through this incident with the staff then I'll ditch them and take care of this issue heah...

I thought the first day of Summer was always on the 21st? Is this something that changes?? I keep discovering things that I thought I knew that turn out to be complete crap and it's making me a little paranoid.
