I made a WhatsIt out of Wenge and Purpleheart (and aluminum). Sanded and buffed with Howard's Feed-n-wax, theres no splinters.I don't think my wenge is doohickey grade. I've got some purple heart, though...

My chainsaw is too small for that. I don't have room for the bandsaw.As much as I admire the ingenuity and DIY spirit involved in that project, it strikes me as a terrible choice compared to just putting an alaskan mill jig on a chainsaw.
