Sunburst Geddy Lee signature?

The Geddy Lee sig is Fender's #1 selling sig bass, no? If so, it's no wonder why they want to expand upon it. I wonder if Fender has any plans to trim the fat and cut a sig model or two
Here's a better thought: If this bass sells so well, why not integrate some of the design ideas from it into the American std J bass? Skinny neck & Pickup placement -- Who here wouldn't dig that?
Oh, and I dig the maple blackblock & sunburst look. Why not?
Yeah, I'm really hopeful about this. Apparently Geddy said it himself..so maybe we'll see what shows up at NAMM 09

For me I always thought that sunburst with tortoise pickguard was the poster child for UGLY.
I'm sorry, I like their playing and everything but when Geddy starts singing, I keep thinking the next verse is gonna be about Frodo and the Shire or like some Elven forest or w/e lol
I don't think the black blocks are anything special.
I think they could do better, that's for sure.
Sunburst+Tort= Good Marriage. Add the Rosewood, and you're set.
I was all excited about the maple fingerboards with the new 2009 MIM, but after comparing side-by-side MIA, I think the Rosewood is more appropriate.
Everybody has their taste and opinion. It's all good and just preference.

yes.... It is hideous..
its def. different idk if its ugly tho. Its just when i think sunburst jazz i think of a vintage look, but the maple with the blocks gives it a modern look. I think people will get used to it.

It is almost the same pattern as the seats in my VW GTI!
Its like a Jazz bass that has eaten too many cheeseburgers.

The Sunburst GL would look neat, its probably the only sig bass I like (besides the Lakland's if you want to call them signature models).
Mmmk, that's pretty bad*ss, but just imagine some black pearloid inlays in that neck!
