Consequently, I'm going to be on the hunt for a 200-300 watt tube head soon.

Maybe the 100T delivers more clean volume than the 'peg, but the V-4B has been scoped by TBers mutliple times at 120+ watts, so I'd be surprised if it did.

In a way I feel like I've done the 100T a disservice, because looking back on my review and my comments, saying I'm an aggressive bass player and emphasizing the distortion of the amp, it sounds like I'm mini-Lemmy or something. That's not the case at all. I learned a few decades ago that a judicious amount of distortion can add an apparent presence and loudness to a signal, and once it's blended with other instruments in an ensemble, the distortion really isn't apparent. This is what the original exciters were based on. When a tube bass amp begins distorting, it can have the same effect. If you hear it soloed, it's obviously distorted somewhat, but in the mix it stands out round and full and present, and try as you might it can't be simulated with compression and eq. It's like tape saturation in that way. And that kind of distortion really comes from the power tubes, not the preamp tubes. So you have to be able to drive the amp to sufficient level for that to happen, and with a 100 - 150 watt tube amp, that's doable without running people out of the room. In my experience at least, any tube amp over 200 watts has to be cranked to such an incredible level to get that kind of distortion, it has to be in a big venue. So I'm not looking for crazy distorto-bass. I'm wanting punchy, upfront, ballsy bass, and this 100T/410 Neo rig is getting it better than anything else I've ever had.

That is nothing but sex. I was going to match my 100T with an Aguilar 410, but just didn't want to get back into that kind of weight. Went with the Bassman 410 Neo and love it - not just a huge compromise. Wish I could have your rig for big gigs, my rig for small gigs. I also wish Selma Hayek was my friend with benefits, and both are equally likely to happen probably.

Support band also used it so got to hear it on stage and off, simply sublime tone , fatter and warmer than a sumo in a sauna. got a bigger gig next month and will break out the 810 neo.
only very small thing , if the channel indicator leds where put below the selector switch they could be seen better as when the amps on a low cab and your standing close to it the leds are sheltered by the overhang of the top. great feedback regards bass sound, love this amp, shes a keeper

did you use fender amp head through asdown cab? I have an ashdown 610 and was wondering how the head would sound through it

yeah that's what I thought..this ashdown 610 is a monster cab..really really nice cab and it pairs sweet with my American fender deluxe jazz bass and Rickenbacker 4003....the head is what makes it so good with any cab. right now I am using a orange OB1 500 watt and its sweet....but the fender super bassman 300 watt heads are so expensive and I love fender over ampeg, less probs with them as ampeg has....will get one very very soon

My finger has been hovering over the "check out" button for a week now for a SB300. I have been using a silverface 100w bassman love it and want more of that. I am just not sure if the 300w is too much. I have been reading a lot of discussions in threads about it. I cant stay away and think its the right move for what i want. This is a dumb question, but if everyone is saying its got tons of headroom and how loud it is with the cabs they are using, can you blow your cab speakers if you crank it even if the cab is rated for more wattage than the max wattage of the head (ex. 350w 8 ohm 410 bassman cab)?
