Super Bowl halftime

First time I've heard Bruno Mars, lots of talent. I think the songwriting could mature a little but hopefully he has many bright years ahead of him.

I agree that RHCP added nothing and were a distraction.

Starting the SB XLVIII Halftime Show brought to you by Pepsi with a drum solo was probably a first, but Bruno Mars and his band killed. Very impressive. The gear shift to RHCP (One of my favorite bands) did not work at all. Bruno could have carried the whole show I think.

It was better than the lip singing and autouned vocals of recent years but i thought it was pretty boring. I had this what planet are these people from feeling watching it. Bruno Mars who's that? You pick someone to play at halftime at the Super Bowl and they don't even have 4 songs i can recognize. No one i know listens to him. I recognized 2 songs from hearing them on the radio at work. I miss the old days when it was like a rock band, pop singer, even a hip hop thing. Not this pop pop pop format. The fact that the chili peppers were put beneath Bruno Mars was a joke

Hate to break it to ya pal, but this probably says more about your demographic (i.e., your age and the folks you hang out with) than his ability to draw an audience. Like it or not, dude is currently selling a whole bunch of songs and concert tickets in recent years.

The real mystery is why the people who organize the Super Bowl have called on the dinosaur bands as much as they have in the past 10 - 15 years.

I hope this is a joke..... I mean, the whole show was great, but RHCP is arguably one of the best bands ever and definitely one of the best active bands today. I'm not a huge fan of the Chili Peppers' music, but to state that they 'stink,' is absurd. I guess they've been around so long that it's now 'cool,' to say they suck...

That is highly debatable, they have not put out a good record since the 90's, ever since they became a generic radio rock band. Old Chili Peppers was however awesome and original.

Highlight of the Superbowl for me was Renee Fleming's version of the anthem. Fly over of the Apaches was cool but the look on Manning's face was priceless when that happened - "what the......?" Probably had the same look at 1/2 time. Going to add that version of the anthem to the "goosebumps" thread elsewhere on this forum. Liked the 1st guy's act, tight choreography, and more than a passing nod to The Godfather. Too bad the game sucked....

Greetings from the North,

The show was great! They all looked like they were really enjoying themselves and having fun. Yes fun!:bassist: Something that a lot of people have forgotten about. And the too young and inexperienced SeaHawks had a good time too ;)

I really enjoyed the show. I love live playing and performing. Bruno Mars' live act reworks a lot of James Brown, Motown, and Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars has the talent to really bring those influences to life. The RHPs did what they do, and they did it well. This beat the hell out the acts I have seen for the last few years.

I really liked all of the music this year. I thought that the half time show was the best of the last few years, although I do agree that the switch to the Peppers was kind of awkward. I really dug the vibe of Mars, and I think I will have to start listening to him more. The thing that impressed me even more though was the national anthem. That was beautiful, and I hoped they learned a lesson and stick with that.
