Super Bowl halftime

I love listening to people hate on those that are more talented than they could ever dream of being. It's fine to not like a genre, but people that can't appreciate and respect obvious talent, especially when they will never acheive a tenth of the success of that artist, just hate hate hate. Oh well. What else is the internet for?

+1

Haters always gonna hate. That's all it is.

Truth is, Pop music is filled with some incredibly talented musicians these days.

Prince was definitely the best ever.

RHCP are NOT "one of the best bands ever". Not by a long shot. They have had a long and successful pop career and that deserves respect but when I think of the best bands ever, it would take me a loooooooong time to get to them.

That is your opinion and it is a minority opinion at that. They've had years of success, are already inducted into the Rock N Roll HOF, etc. Their resume speaks for itself.

Bruno Mars' hits will assuredly be played in twenty years, the same can not be said about post 2000's RHCP.
Wha? My three daughters are fans of both bands, and I didn't even introduce them to RHCP. They discovered them on their own. My oldest continues to dig through their catalog.

BM and RHCP are great bands. My personal opinion. Sorry if I offend anyone.

Listened to in 20 years, perhaps, by people who will then be about 40 and engaging in nostalgia. But it's "just" very well-executed formula pop, not the sort of thing people will be rediscovering and reinterpreting as part of the rock canon.

I put "just" in quotes, because even so, that's no small accomplishment.

But then there was this....
And this...

OK, I stand corrected... I didn't notice all the differences in his outfit and all that... just saw red pants and purple hair so I fired... In any event, it was still a great show by both bands, and while I certainly feel we have the right to critique any famous act, I think saying things like "they can't carry each others' jocks," or someone "stinks," is a bit ridiculous unless were talking about an act that does not write their own music, autotunes in the studio, and lip syncs every show... we all know these acts were more than capable of doing the show straight, but they probably didn't because of live sound logistics (I say that admitting I don't know much if anything on that topic, but it makes sense to me when I think about it haha)

You know the same thing could be said about the Beatles, Motown, Madonna, Duran Duran, and countless other artist that still get regular airplay to this day. Meaningless pop garbage, right? :hmm:

How could they "stink"? They weren't even plugged in. I'm guessing you just don't like RHCP.

Their performance was a huge mismatch with Bruno Mars and they looked bad jumping around half-naked after the Mars band got the groove going with a classic performance, nice outfits (jackets and ties,) synchronized dancing and killer vocals. RHCP was as out of place as a leather-clad biker group at a tuxedo-type wedding.

I'm neutral to RHCP - I have no reason to like or dislike them, have seldom heard anything they've done. They sure didn't come off well during the halftime show, because their performance was totally out of place.
