SUPER CHEAP Chinese Rickenbacker... Worth Buying?

Theres some nice rick copies available in Uk and Europe from makers over in Uk and Europe. Id go for one of those anyday before one of these chinese fakes. Saw a review vid of one of the fake gibson guitars recently where there was actual gashes in the frets making the guitar unplayable untill it got refretted. Lol.

Listen I'm not saying its right but most of the basses we are seeing now are from overseas. They have been doing it to Gibson and Fender for years.Even other famous brands have even ripped off their shapes.I got one because I wanted to see for myself instead of rambling on about something I have not played. Its not bad at for a $300 guitar,no its not a Ric but a nice alternative for someone with limited funds.Like I said I have about 25 basses mostly higher end so I know what I'm talking about. For a young person or someone with a family its affordable.I'm not trying to offend just passing it on.

The first person who truthfully gets one and does a review, good or BAD, will show quite a lot of people that it either IS junk, or something to think about.

Everyone's fear is getting ripped off BEFORE you even see the thing at your doorstep. I wish there were some Chinese TB members that could buy them, and just ship them to the USA or wherever after they already have them in their hands, without the fear in our minds of not getting what your buying.

HOLY CRAP

I just saw a 4008/12 or whatever it is. The double necked bass that Geddy uses. Even if it is a knock off, I would still love to get my hands on it and at least try it...

I'm looking for a burgundy copy. Could someone tell me if they see one?

It's a 4080/12. A 4 string bass and a 12 string guitar. I don't think there are any copies of it.

This discussion has really been happening for going on 30 years. In the 70s-80s it was all about Tokai strats and Ibanez Les Pauls and Fernandes everything.
No, they did not put the "name" brands on the necks. But they were exact enough copies.
The same arguments happened. Until they really started hitting the store shelves and people actually were able to A-B them against the real thing. Some were crap, and the "what do you expect, they're not US made fakes" line happened. But, a LOT of them were every bit as good, if not better than the US made.

I wish I still had that Fernandes Alembic. It was one of the best basses I have owned.

This should settle it once and for all:

Question:how about the for the musical instruments ?
Answer: why so many world famous brand choice china are the factory base ?because China's handcraft are very famous, cheaper, work fine,so get more trust from all over world.so don't worry about our guitar , their's handcraft very excellent, sounds good, high .you must pride with you buying the guitar from china.

The bass collection Ric's look great, pricey though.

I still think Tokia's 'Rockinbetters' are the best faux Rics out there... they're pricey too!

Yes they are a bit pricey for what they are, but they do seem to be reasonably well made.

What puzzles me is why Tokai don't list these on their web site??? Are they afraid of the Rik Police???!!! :ninja:

Also, the name Tokai doesn't appear anywhere on the bass, so it's as though they are 'distancing' themselves from it. I think they are made in Indonesia and not Japan. :(

I actually played a ric copy from china a couple of months back, at the guitar show in Arlington Tx, and it sounded and played fine, and also looked real nice. I don't know if it sounds like a ric because I'm really not into ric's because of the price. But other than the bolt on neck and name slightly misspelled, it looks like a ric to me, and you'd have to look really close to notice it was fake. The guy was selling them for $600 which means he marked them up 100%.
