Super Pawn Shop Find

It's a Roland GR-33B which I have just purchased before lunch. Sorry to those of you who tried stealing it! Gave the guy $700 cash and a Squier Standard Jazz, but the bass came without the 24 pin cable or GR-33B synthesizer unit. Only an old bass, and an ultra crappy deal, but who knows, it sounds alright.

Out of curiousity isn't the things it came without the very reason this bass is useful? not trying to be smart I know nothing about the basses and am trying to figure it all out.

In all seriousness to OP....

Would have been wise to start a thread about the bass in question and to get people's comments about it. Leave out details about how you might be coming about said bass.

Sorry you feel like you got a bad deal. It happens. If you feel that it is not the bass for you, plenty of other options out there.

But it certainly looks like a cool bass. These had a "passive" option, if I remember right.

I once made a bass out of part of my pine dinner table, a strong branch off a hickory tree, a couple of throttle cables for strings and a radioshack microphone as the pickup. I "bolted" it together with some number 10 nails, elmer's glue, and a bit of duct tape. Could it be THAT rare piece of equipment?

Sounds like this may have been a better find. Just kidding!!;)

You are correct. $2,000 seems quite steep to me. But yeah, just a cool old bass with some history behind it.

The 'history' is, it used to gather dust in a pawn shop. ..... I can only imagine the bass may have been hot at some point, I'm sure not now but, why would someone own one without the synth unit? ...... Hope you find one. ..... PS: Check the pawn shops.
PSS: Or start another thread asking if someone has one in the garage or basement their interested in selling.

The problem would be that no one would ever separate it from the bass so you need someone that has the unit and not the instrument.

After reading up on it, if it would be me I would return the bass right away of possible. Without the synth unit it seems to be a basic Ibanez 80's bass.

A search of Ebay doesn't turn up much, unless the GR-77b unit would work with it. Dude has a "buy it now" auction for $2495
I'd ditch it if possible and get your Squire back. Or you could sell it on evil-bay.
