Surviving without tort

Don’t think of it as a lack of tort but as an opportunity to start using mint, the clearly superior pickguard color. That is all.

OK, I have, but not at this time - it's been decades since I had tort, and one of thoes, I painted black. We should start a support group - when the tort mob comes with pitchforks (and they will come), it'll be good to have some company.

The only bass I've had in my life was a hideous photo finish tort. Replaced it immediately with white pearloid.

So tonight is the first night in 20 years that I won’t have a tort-equipped bass. I downsized, or maybe right-sized, from seven to two basses over the past two years, and neither of my current ones sport tort. Well, I do still have tort guards for a Stingray and a Jazz Bass, so I guess I could just look at them if I get desperate. In all seriousness, it feels a little bizarre!

Take a deep breath and have some torte.

That should counter any withdrawal symptoms.

My burst jazz bass with the white pickguard has been screaming at me to replace the white with tort. I haven't broken, but it's crept into my dreams. I may not be able to hold out much longer.
