SVT 3 Pro settings tutorial thread - please contribute your knowledge!

I just picked one of these amps up this weekend and enjoyed this thread. I like the amp. I was nervous about buying it because many people claimed it was under powered, but the tone sold me.
Just bumping this thread

Ill never really understand the underpowered claims. Unless you are in a tremendously loud band I guess. It aleays did fine for me in several different bands. Some were pretty loud.

i JUST got a new head to replace my svt 3. I could never get the thing to sound the way I wanted. I take a lot of responsibility for that, as I'm not exactly an expert on sound...but everything seemed so touchy on that thing. The underpowered part I tend to agree with, although some of the trouble was the result of running it at 8 ohms instead of 4. At 8 ohms it was way underpowered for outdoor or larger indoor gigs and the sound quality really really suffered when I tried to push it.

Despite some of the reliability concerns people claimed about the mesa boogie m9 carbine (when it first came out anyway) i layed some money down for that. The extra power it has at both 8 ohms and 2/4 ohms have made it a ton easier to find a tone I'm happy with. So far, I love the m9 compared to the svt3 and if the reliability issue has definitely been resolved, then it's not even a competition between the two.

All in all, the ampeg served me well, and I'm sure it will do well for anyone on here that has one, but I just struggled with it a lot.

If all goes according to plan this summer and I get a new cab with some 15"'s in it, next step will be retubing my SVT3 Pro to get the most out of it. I've heard you gain alot of headroom and some tonal benefits from some of the aftermarket tubes. Anybody have any experience or recommendations?

Reviving this.
All the amps I've used had a Clipping alert. So, what concerns me is: how do I know it is not clipping (which will lead my cabinets to ruin?)
Ok, with a clean tone, bad sounding distortion might be a good indicator (no distortion in this amp sounded good up to now).
But how about a heavy fuzzed tone (with a fuzz pedal, obviously)? Will I be able to identify the clipping?
I just don't want my hard paid Epifanis to die because of my incompetence...
