SVT CL question

That's what I say, too. Those oddball impedances are too wonky for me. Love Markbass, don't love 6 ohms.
There is a 6x10 I can get for $550 from a guy who said he bought it 3 years ago and played it 6 times.
I considered it, but I heard from several ,possibly even including Jimmy, that the 6x10 is not that good

Not me. Only played the 410HLF. But the 610 is built the same way and has the same low end response.
The extra speakers add volume, BTW.
The extra speakers add volume, yet so many peeps are talking about how the tone is so much better on the 8x10s? Tone=volume? Not to me it doesn't.

I'd probably go with the avatar setup you mentioned, or if you can wait Dr.Bass. I see what you're saying about the 810 - I just joined a hard rock band and my Dr.Bass 2x12 at 4ohms and 1000w is plenty loud for us. Not to sure as to how the lows are as the basement we play in is horrible for bass reflections and everything, but that's probably not going to be an issue on a gig.
They're talking re the tone of the SEALED 8x10 cab- calssic Ampeg 'frij' The Bergantino NV610 IS designed to sound LIKE the old Ampeg 810-which many like best- but is FAR easier to move & is lighter & smaller than the Ampeg 610 & than many 410's.

I realize banks lend out the $$ of the Ppl BUT as far as MOST ppl go -that I know of anyway- NOT a lot of 'em have "savings" anymore, Many just use credit...(I'm one of the few who don't-which is good at this economic time!!)

They have an SB112 NEO Bass Cab, Orange Tolex, 4 ohm, for under 300 shipped. The 4x10 Avatar NEO will be about 480 shipped
Open back is for guitar cabs. Bass will blow out most open back cabs the second you turn up a little loud.
The amp blows up if it's only 4 ohms. 8 + 4 = 2.67 ohms. Should work in an SVT, although the power distribution will send 2/3 of the available power to the 4 ohm cab.
You're really not going to get the full effect of the head unless ur putting it through what it was designed to be played through....an 8x10's
if its too loud for solo practice, then get a peavey maxbass combo (have one, actually has good tone for a combo compared to my GK full stack).
I hear the people talking about using it and all, but complaints from neighbors and noise pollution fines cost money as well...just make sure you're giving your head a decent work-out a few times a week.
