Update! Got mine done. Thanks for all your help and advice folks. I ended up having good luck with the electric stapler after all, all it took was 1/4" staples. Worked great. Here's a quick(poor quality..) before and after pic. I've since put the logo back on, but left the small 'Classic' off. Thanks again.

*EDIT* regarding the logo, it was pretty scratched so it received a very light belt sander treatment a while back to give it a bit of a patina. Looks OK, but I think it would look sweet with a shiny new one.

You can buy plastic Ampeg logos that come from Loud. The same modern one that they use on their amps.

The price here looks incorrect, it is usually higher.

Fabulous, thank you. For interests sake, when did Ampeg stop using metal logos? Mine is metal, but I bought the cab used. I suspect it's 8-10 years old?

I'm not sure of the exact timing but I got a couple of the metal ones back in January 2014. Later that summer (Aug. 2014) Ampeg Artist's Relations sent me some more for some work I was doing for them and they were plastic because the metal were no longer available.

Not sure about the dates but some of the other Ampeg plastic logos go way back. I've bought them on ebay. Prices can get up there.

It is possible to restore the metal logo. First, degrease the logo with isopropyl alcohol (available from a pharmacy). Then shoot a gloss metal silver spray paint and let it dry. Then hand apply a black water based acrylic paint in the low areas, wipe it with a rubber squeegee and damp Q-tips to even it out and remove it from the silver areas. I use Liquitex brand flat black that I buy from an art supply store: http://www.liquitex.com/. Since it is water based, you can use a damp cloth to fix messes. If it doesn't work, wash it off and try again. Some use a black marker instead of the acrylic paint.
