Headlite owners:Could you please test something for me?

Plug in a quiet bass, turn the volume up with the EQ flat, until there's a tiny amount of hiss.

Now dial the midrange EQ back. Yes back. On the unit I'm trialling, the hiss *increases* which is not what I expected at all. Okay fair's fair, the amount of hiss is really tiny for the amount of power this thing has, but it's got me scratching my head and wondering if this is normal.

Been using an SM-500 with a Goliath Senior for ten years and have loved every note of it. Getting ready to try the preamp mod on the SM-500 I learned about in another thread. I'd like to replace the original aural enhancer 50k pot with a 50k push/pull pot and be able to switch from classic SWR voicing to the flat response touted by those who have done the mod.

Anybody know if this amp would accommodate a push/pull pot in the space provided for the original pot?

Which frequency are you dialing back? Or is it not affected by that? I haven't noticed any hiss with this unit.

Well, it has to be turned up pretty loud to get this. Pretty much cranked. Frequency was set about middle, and my cabs have tweeters on all the time. It didn't seem to be effected by changing the frequency, just a little increase in the hiss when I dialled mids back. I'd like to hear what happens when you give it a try.

Hey guys.... Sorry I'm late. Here's mine. I'd like to join. This is my first club here on TB. Next rig will be the Big Ben with a Goliath Jr on top. For now, this does me just fine.

GAS reduction delimea, last two gigs I've been using my SM400+Goliath III, and a new love affair has begun. Awesome sound and running on idle, only 25% master with gain on 50%. Do I or don't I sell off my beloved Super Redhead? It has been just as awesome on many gigs, especially teamed with a Son of Bertha. Damn, just can't decide on one high power setup. Mid power is just as bad, a Studio 220+Avatar 4 ohm SB112 or my original Rehead (head only)+Workingman 212. It was so much better when I could only afford one amp. How do I choose? Didn't Rush say " If I choose not to choose, I still have made a choice"?

Golights?

Love em.

I have the 4 ohm Golight 4x10, the 8 ohm Golight 2x10, and the 8 ohm Golight 1x15.

Most of the time I end up using the 2x10 as it's so dang easy to transport. If you push the low end with enough power behind it, it does the job well. The 1x15 has that classic big box 15 Bottom Booty. The 4x10 in most situations for me is overkill but I do enjoy cranking my amp through it and pummeling anyone in the area.
