SWR Goliath III replacement speakers

Hi all,

I feel the need to replace the speakers of my two SWR GIII cabs. I've search on the board and it appears the Eminence BP102's or the delta 10b's seem to be the right choice.
Do you guys confirm? Are there any better match?
It seems the BP102's seem to increase the lows and are more scooped in the mids than the stock SWR speakers. That shouldn't be a real problem as I really enjoy massive lows. The only thing I want is to keep that very SWR sound that I crave. Which means crystal clean with lots of bottom. Pretty much the sound I really enjoyed with the Ampeg 610 HLF.
I could search the internet for some stock SWR speakers, but it's going to cost way higher that these Eminence.
Also I already changed it a several years ago and I feel they might be a bit fragile for heavy gigging.

Am I then right to consider the swap for the BP102's or delta 10b's are there any better choices?

I would go with the eminence legend ca1059-8 They are meant to be replacement speakers for eden cabinets and should be very close to the original swr speakers.

Never heard of these, I'm going to check that....
However, it's 500W per speakers. That means my cab will be able to receive 2000W. Ain't it overkill?

After so more research the Eminence Deltalite II 2510 might also be a good choice. It will also lighten a lot my cabs!

Not replaced the speakers yet, but I've searched everywhere and the legend BP102 really seems to be the way to go. My choice is settled on these for sure.

yeah the cast frame swr speakers being offered in that pack posted is alot better speaker and sensitivity is way higher than the 102

likewise Legend cast frame speakers that can all just be run in parallel instead of any series wiring.
so 16 ohm or 32 ohm driver will give you a 4ohm or 8ohm cabinet whatever impedance you prefer.

use legend CA10-16 or legend CA10-32

These are the exact SWR speakers you can find in any SWR cabs. And what a bargain!! Jump on it!

@BogeyBass, after some extensive research, it appears you seem to be very right!! The CA10 seems to be the absolute perfect choice for an SWR cab. Thanks for your great input, it probably avoided me to spend some cash on the wrong thing.

I had my SWR Goliath speakers reconed. They sound fine.
It's another option.

Why not (assuming the parts are original, or accurate aftermarket)?

Cause I'm in Europe and I guess reconning is only possible in the US?
And for the long term, I feel I can't recon all the time. However finding spare parts is easier.

Again, and I emphasize that when the repair is done properly by a (really) qualified service technician, a recone will be 100% equal to a new driver. Ifvtge parts are available in the US, then they are available in Europe as shipping is pretty available these days.

How does that affect getting something reconed now, and buying new speakers IF you can't get it reconed later?

In other words, reconing doesn't mean any less reliable than new; it is not a downgrade.

I have nothing against reckoning. It's just easier to buy new speakers directly from Eminence.
