I have one of these and they are a very nice practice amp with 80 watts, a 10" speaker and good tone for it's size. I just can't leave things alone and love to squeeze more performance out of everything. I've heard that these amps respond well to a deltalite replacement speaker. Anybody had any experience with these that they can share?

I have a Workingman's 10 and really enjoy it. It is perfect for practicing at home --but I love that I can throw it in my trunk and use it when I am getting together with a couple guitar players or whatever.
I too have read that the Deltalite is an upgrade for these amps, but I have not tried one yet. I wonder if they make a 4 ohm version of the 10" Deltalite? That would be the ideal IMO -- you would get all 120 watts without using an extension cab.
Anyone replace a speaker in a WM10? What did you use?

I have one of these. I love it. SWR used (older models) a
different 10 in speaker for different boxes. The box was
tuned for the speaker in it. I tried to buy a deltalite from
Avatar. The guy I spoke to, (honest and nice) wouldn't sell
me one for that application. He said he was only looking out
for me, and that there was a very low percentage chance
the deltalite would work better than whats in the box now.
I'd loose some weight, but if the box isn't tuned for the
speaker, it just can't work as well as whats in there now,
which is already a good speaker according to him.
I believe the Avatar guys. They know their stuff.
However..... if you really want to get the best out of this
combo, use a Sansamp Paradriver into the effects return
and bypass the internal preamp. Whoa momma!! More lows,
sweeter highs and more volume. This amp is now usable
for many more "real world" gigs than before. Good luck
Mine is the perfect at home practice amp. I am having trouble with some type of distortion when turning up (which I don't need to do most times), and I don't think I'm maxing out the amp and clipping it. Probably a bad solder joint. Gotta take it apart and check. Otherwise a very good sounding amp.

They may have something for the correct dimensions of the cab. The LDS Eminence 8"s make the Baby Blue II a pant flapper.
I have one, and the extension speaker. It's 100W at 4 ohms, not 120. I started getting some speaker fart from it when I hit the low D on my 5er, so I put an Eminence 250W 10 in it, and it became a very good little combo after that. I actually gig it when we play on the Colonel, a paddlewheeler that does dinner cruises from Moody Gardens in Galveston. Perfect for that venue. Everyone packs light for that, it's a three hour gig, with a real bitch of a load-in down a quarter-mile dock...I've been thinking of getting a pair of Deltalights for them, it would make my load that much lighter! 
i've had a deltalite in my workingman 10 for about six months and love the sound. It was an immediately noticable improvement in the overall sound. Mids are clearer and the bottom tighter. Even does a decent job handling a 5 string. I was actually thinking of selling it but ran into a deal on a deltalite II and grabbed it. I have a 8 ohm but would like to get a 4 ohm to see what it sounds like when pushing 100 watts. (of course I won't be able to use the extension jack)
When using an active bass I use a Sansamp bddi going directly into the effects return therefore bypassing the preamp. With my passive fretless, I use a NE-1 going into the preamp.

See? Thats what you get for telling me to call Avatar. I'm
a bit stumped as to changing the speaker or not. The guy
at Avatar says don't, but you've been happy with no low
end loss at all. Go figure.

I just love mine, small, portable and loud enough for most practice sessions and small gigs.
I haven't replaced the speaker and I believe I won't unless it breaks down, it's good enough for me. But I'm planning to make an 12" extension cab in a wedge shape, that can be used as bottom of a "stack" or as a monitor. Also a cab-stand adapter to the bottom of the combo will be installed.
The only downside of these amps is the power chip that has some issues, but it usually doesen't blow anything else and the repair is usually 1 hour charge + 10 skins for the chip.
And richnota, the tweed job looks awesome. I liked the looks without the cloth grille better, but otherwise something that I might do also.

I used a WM 10 with bass guitar in a university big band and enjoyed it quite a bit. Especially with flatwounds it sounded bigger than it was, and it handled my Pedulla Rapture's low B well at reasonable levels. I played it in a variety of settings from rehearsal rooms to several fairly large concert halls with great acoustics.
Each time the band director (a fabulous musician with great ears) felt the WM10 was loud/full enough to perform without PA support, and friends in the audience confirmed it. Only bugger about these amps is that it doesn't take much for the fuse holder on the back to loosen up and go AWOL. Happened to me before an important rehearsal and I had to go home and bring back my GK 200MB on my bike. Best to gaff it in place.

I have bought speakers from Avatar and usually speak to Dave and found him very informative. I also want to get some help from members with WinISD experience to see if and porting alterations would help...
Please find out about that stuff. I'm still interested in using
the Deltalite, although Dave made a very convincing
argument not to do it.
If I had an extra one I'd send it to you, but I am tapped out at the moment. I'd go ahead and get one anyway, if I were you. I actually plan on getting a few as spares down the road. That way, the longest I'd have to wait if a cab went down would be the same day. I only use two sizes, but different ohms on them. If you have an extension cab, get an 8, if you only have the combo and don't plan on using an extension cab, get a 4 to maximize your output.
Dave said as far as he knows, they only make the Deltalite
in 8 and 16 ohms. No 4 ohm. If you find one, please let me know.
I owned a WM10 for about 4 years, and wish I had never sold it. It was a great little amp, and even sounded great on the low b of the Roscoe LG3005 fretless I was playing at the time.
While swapping a speaker with different specs into a cabinet can certainly have bad effects, there's always a chance that it will match the cab well enough to work. It won't automatically be bad. As an example, I have a Polytone Mini-Teeny brute that finally blew a speaker after many years. We were unable to get a replacement from Polytone, so we just used an Eminence (can't even remember the exact model). The amp sounds better than it ever did with the original speaker.
There are people who have done the swap you're talking about and had positive results. No guarantees, and I like the WM10 enough stock that I might not change it ... but I wouldn't be too scared to try what you're thinking about.
