SX and returns. Your cut off point.

Hey TBers,

I just made my first purchase from Rondo, and there is a sizable chip in the back of the neck near the headstock. My thumb hits it while playing. I'm thinking of trying the superglue fix instead of sending it back, or just sanding off that gloss finish entirely.

But it got me thinking. Considering the price, what would have to be wrong before you'd send it back?

Opinions as to my chipped neck appreciated as well. :)

Cheers,
John

From all the talk about SX basses on this site, the one thing that everyone has said was pretty darn good was Kurt and his willingness to make good on issues with merchandise. In a situation like this I would contact him and see about getting a discount due to the defect as opposed to shipping it back and waiting for another. Lots of people around here also take some scotch brite pads to the gloss on the SX necks as it tends to be a pretty thick finish.

In the end it's up to you on how you'd like to go but give him a chance to make good first.

I buy my SXes to play. The things that would make me send one back would be things I can't easily fix that affect playability, or a pretty major visible ( on the front) blem. That said, of my SX purchases I have only sent back one guitar ( out of 29) and no basses ( out of 21).

29 SX guitars and 21 SX basses? Oh my! I am SUCH a rank SX buying noob! (8 SX basses and 3 SX guitars).

I've never had to send one back.
