SX Basses

I'm certainly not looking to start a fight over this...but...
Why is it that it's acceptable, even encouraged, to talk trash about SX? Try that with one of the sacred cows here (Sadowsky, Lakland, G&L, etc) and see where it goes. It wouldn't be tolerated for a second by the posters or the moderators. But since it's SX, it's ok. It's because SX basses are inexpensive. They cost a-third of Fender, so they're fair game.
You want proof. Just look at the thread about the Fleabass. They can't be any good because they're cheap. The fact that no one has actually had a chance to play one for more than five minutes at NAMM is apparently besides the point. Flea is just a money-grubbing bassist because he's making them so cheap and putting his name on it. And, oh my god, he's making them for kids, not real bassists. If he were making a $2,500 bass, that would be better.
I think the OP should have sent the bass back to Rondo. Then once the problem was resolved (as it would be if he would send it back to Kurt), he should post about the experience. That would be a more positive post that would actually add to the discussion, rather than saying how disappointed he is that SX sucks because he received a damaged bass, most likely caused by the shipper.
I think the fact that the truss rod was askew (for lack of a better term and not seeing any photos of the damage) and the neck supposedly needed to be shimmed points to the bass being dropped at some point. That certainly is not an SX design flaw or anything Rondo did to the bass.
That's all I'm saying. A few of you agree with me, some don't. That's ok. That's the way the world works.

On the neck shim. The last 2 SX basses I bought benefitted from a neck shim. But what I mean by benefitting is simply that I like the saddle intonation screws to be almost horizontal (IOW, I don't like to have to put the saddles almost on the bridge plate) when action is acceptably adjusted. I shimmed one, mostly because I replaced the bridge with a thicker one which made the problem worse, but I may or may not shim the other one (I'm gettin' lazy). But I'm just mentioning that I am seeing a trend (haha a trend of 2!) of SX angling the necks more into the body.
But having to shim a neck doesn't really bother me. You shouldn't HAVE to do it, and if I had left the stock bridge on I wouldn't have HAD to, but the neck shouldn't have been that way, IMO. Still. I believe SX does make a great value bass.
