Many here have addressed the b-string issue (stock strings are truly horrendous) might I fit a set of daddario lights on the bridge? That's 130-32...

you have to drillOh I've read through it. I'm just trying to figure out how to get a new set without drilling the b![]()
I've got two problems w the B string: it's out of tune at the 12th fret I'm sharp with no more room to move, and I'm going to break my string from stress:
I didn't think the stock strings were horrible, but I did change them out after a couple days (wanted to let the neck settle in a bit due to weather.) They felt/sounded like a set of Ernie Balls to me. I put on a set of DR MM6-130'S (30-130) with no problem at all - although, like others have advised, I did slide the B string saddle all the way out to make it easier. And WOW did it improve the sound. The tone and the output were improved, and the increased stiffness made it feel much more substantial, especially on the low B and high C. I barely had to re-intonate it at all.
It's been quite a while since I used D'addario roundwounds (ever since they messed with the Prism design) but if I'm not mistaken, they have silk windings on the ball-end, don't they? That could present a problem. I have no idea why they continue to do that on their ERB sets considering how tight the fit is on the low B string hole on so many basses. On my main 5'er I actually had to drill out the bridge!
Besides, you should be using DR's anyways![]()
What's your action like? If it's set on the high side, it may not intonate no matter where you put the saddle.
Thanks for your input! I'm an elixr kid, but I don't always carry $50 aroundill take a look at those DRs...

It's low. 1-5 are in tune, every fret. Just this guy. No more room to move back on the bridge.
The issue with getting a 0.130 B through the bridge isn't really a string issue (well, for rounds, anyway) it's a silk wrap issue. I use webstrings.com strings which don't have silk, and did not have to drill.
