Good luck Chef. I found my B10 here on TB for what looks like 1/3 the going rate on the net.
Say, can't you finagle a demo at BGM and buy it at a discount?
But then again, I'm pretty sure you thought of that already.

IIRC the TB10 Preamp has two sockets for attaching internal pickups. Great design and very simple to do yourself. My B10 Preamp has a single socket (a female RCA socket IIRC). I bought a cable with a piggyback plug to try out plugging two pickups in.

A mate & I tried fitting his Ehrlund pickup to it (using multiple preamps) but couldn't get it to sound right with any combination. We both though the original piezo pickup + DSP Preamp sounded best. Through my Jule Monique M700 it sounds SOOOO good!

I haven't tried 1/4 DB strings yet. How would they differ from La Bella Tapewounds or D'Addario Chromes (the only two sets I've tried on it).

That’s a good question. The only other strings I have strung my Tak B10 with are ones for the streinberger omnibass. They are quite thin, and made it sound like a fretless, as opposed to a decent simulacrum of an upright with the spirocore or obligato orchestral strings, and internal pickup with the bridge piezo in the bass.

Hey there,

This very interesting discussing caused me the sign-up.
I just got a second hand TB10, which I fell in love with. As many of you already explained, the original case is VERY heavy.
Some of you bought cello cases. It seems an excellent idea indeed. In any case (pun intended), what did you buy exactly (brand/model) ?
As for cello cases, are those 1/1 cello, 1/2 cello cases? I'd really like this bass to be able to move without too much trouble and without car.

Fusion cello bag. Cheap but be warned it is just a very lightly padded case. This is not something you want to take with you if you have to move around in a crowded building with a lot of furniture. Think of it as a glorified Rock Bass case the cheapest Warwicks come in at default.

I know that in Japan, NAZCA will make you a much better padded case but the cost will be almost 2.5 times higher. Personally, I stuck with the Fusion Gigbag cello case because of the low shipping cost and the fit. I know that they've been out of these bags for a while so if you are interested, call them up.

Yeah, that blue TB... eek. I can see why it was a limited edition.:vomit::)

How did you go about lowering the strings? I'm about to take mine to a luthier who suggests removing the wood saddle and shving the bottom. assuming that the piezos are in the bridge and not the saddle. It would always be possible to shim the saddle back up if it goes too low. I'm really curious as to how you or your tech went about this! Thanks!
