Believe it or not, I think someone asked that question. I'm pleading the fifth here.
Why is a six-pack used to refer to someone's abdominal muscles when a six-pack of beer contributes to beer gut?
Marketing.
There are 8 abdominal muscles so if you only got 6 you need to keep working.
To not offend the beer, it is only proper to call them Washboard Abs now. No one cares about Washboards feelings.
