TalkBass Q&A Game

Being a wuss like me
At least I got to see Charlie Daniels, best concert I've been to.

Best concert you've been to?

King Diamond was surprisingly good in concert. But best show might be Queensryche on Empire tour. Empire was not a great album but - they did all of Mindcrime from start to finish, then the Empire part of the show. Then like 8 encores of great fan favorites. Geoff was great the whole show but somehow reached a new level during the encores that was just impressive. However, Mr Bungle takes the cake for best show. The opening band didn't make it so they came on and as Mike said they punished us with an extra long set.

Where do you stand on Devil Went Down to Georgia?

Yeah. I don't palm mute so well due to arthritis issues. Clang and bang seems more my style

Have a few hours?
Why I keep hammering the Carol Kaye pick method
I more or less play like that. I only really started playing with a pick a week ago and I read that article. It helps! My hand still gets all cramped.

Does cramping go away after playing pick style for long enough or am I doing something wrong?

Does get better, but I would still evaluate how you hold the pick. I can't squeeze and keep hold of it due to carpet tunnel

Different picks have the center cut out, are fatter around the edges, or lines raised for traction.
I find heavy picks easier to use. Currently using a .98 Dunlop Tortex

Checked out Micks Picks?

Went and bought 3.0 Big Stubby picks. Haven't played with them, but they look durable. I shredded a 1.0 to an unplayable state...

Looking at my pick from a flat view, it looks more or less like this:

What's the worst you've rendered a pick?
