TalkBass Trade Gone Bad

Reread my post. The bass I traded was the same as I received it from the fellow whom sold it to me as a stock roadworn.

And you did not notice that yours was different from the stock photos you used in the ad? You are clearly familiar with what comes from factory and what doesn't. You ripped this guy off and ran and now you expect to come back with credibility? How do we know you did not freeze the truss rod, since your basses tend to look worse for wear I would assume you are not too careful with them. I am honestly shocked at your audacity if you are seriously posting this right now...

Look at my feedback before this trade with Arizona.

Dude, yes I used a stock photo in the ad but sent Arizona a bunch of pics of the actual bass, upon his request. He knew exactly what he was getting before he agreed to the trade.
Why did you not say this in January? If this is the case, you could have salvaged your reputation here. You may be the good guy here, but your silence for so long is going to make that a tough sell.

Best of luck to both of you.

I was quite frankly shocked by the onslaught barrage Arizona leveled on me in January. I am by nature non-combatant and felt compelled to withdraw from his offense. My silence has been broken as a result of the discovery of the issue with the truss rod in the bass I received in the trade.

So 4-5 months later you are just figuring out that there is something wrong with the trussrod? Seriously?

Are you 100% positive it that it didn't work in Jan? If the answer is no, nobody should feel sorry for you in any way IMO. Who knows what you, the change in temp/humidity, wear and tear or even a factory defect did to the truss rod in that long period of time. Even a large retailer would tell you to get lost if you had trussrod issues and wanted a return/exchange after 4-5 months on a used bass.

One of the first things I check (and most people) is the TR as it is generally the only thing on a bass I can't personally fix.

Reread my post. The weather finally warmed up and the neck first now needed a tweak. It will not tighten to take out the bow. Like I previously said, look at my feedback from before my trade with Arizona.

I can read just fine thanks.

The fact that you didn't bother to check to see if the trussrod freely turns for 4-5 months puts the onus on you.

Would you buy a used car in the winter and wait until it got hot 4-5 months later to see if the AC actually worked?

AC doesn't work in the winter. But, I would ask the salesman if the AC does work. Thanks for the reply.

As it turns out, the 51 reissue bass I received in this trade has an issue with the truss rod. The weather warmed up in my local and the neck bowed. I tried to tighten the truss rod to take out the bow and discovered it would not budge, not even a smidgen. I am stuck with a crappy player - neck on this bass. A functional, not an cosmetic issue at that.

I wish I would have known this as I would not have made this trade. Arizona told me the bass was all good with no issues. Probably the reason he unloaded on me about the bass I traded to protect himself from the unseen issue with his trade.

I did not go off and bad mouth the heck out of the guy whom sold me this roadworn jazz. This is the way I received it from the guy I bought it from. I thought it was a nice bass. It looked old, was light in weight, and played real well.

It is one thing I got bashed to the extreme for being honest in the trade. What really matters is the neck is unadjustable in the bass I got in the trade so now I am double beat down.

The guy had to have known the truss was screwed up in his bass but chose to not disclose this issue.
