Also I think the Heavy Machine does a much better job. The Megalith is too extreme and even though huge sounding I can see how it would get lost in a fuzzy mess which would be cool if that's what your after. I think the Heavy Machine is much better in a mix. Sounds clearer and more defined and can still get pretty huge.

Hey man if you really wanted a Rat Tail it's free shipping in the US. You could ship it to me and then I could ship it to you for exact cost of shipping. I know that's a lot of trust goin on but I just thought I'd offer. I know it's gotta suck to not have something you want over stupid crap like shipping costs. :)

You are a good dude and I appreciate the offer. Since my mom lives in NY and my wife is a diplomat (read no customs duties to pay, EVER) I usually go down that route. It still pisses me off to no end...

But thanks again mate. I would trust you in a second with it.

When your pedal travels to Brazil and is "lost" according to USPS and Brazil's postal service, the $50 of insurance is well worth it to get your pedal/money back. Believe me! USPS has messed up really badly on 4 shipments for us in 2014. We can't afford to lose any money on a lost package that is not insured for loss/damage. Plus first class shipments don't get tracked. A pedal touches too many hands in transit, so a million things can go wrong. We've been burned by shipping services in the past and can't afford to lose or hurt the customer. I do understand your concern with the cost and it's why we work with Euro dealers to keep the costs down. I hate charging so much to ship, but we don't make money on the shipping charges. It all goes to shipping and PayPal fees.

Thanks for all the love, everyone! Wren & Cuff, SS/BS, blackout, and everyone else mentioned make great stuff. It's hard because for each rig, band, and experience, mileage varies.
We can add aforementioned clean blends, tone bypass mods...all that jazz to help you get the sound you want. Wren & Cuff and ss/bs do miss as well :).

I understand your perspective but I get many a package shipped from the US, trackable and insured and it never costs $50 a pedal. Never.

I shipped a pedal to AUS through USPS this morning insured for $235. It was $46. We claim full cost of the pedal so if it's lost, we/the customer gets everything s/he paid for it. You may be paying for First Class which does not fully cover for "all events."

The TAFM sounds amazing and can cover a ridiculous amount of ground, so the OP should definitely consider it. Just to be clear though, it is NOT muff based, it is a germanium fuzz face variant.

I think we can both agree that shipping to Australia and shipping to the EU are slightly different stories.

But this argument is good for neither of us. And as you mentioned you have European dealers to cover the difference (we won't mention that they charge a fair markup - GBP 149 (or $236) for a pedal that sells for $180 on your site - so absent the potential customs charge it is still cheaper to buy direct. AND you can get the color you want and options you want).

Don't worry Ryan - a Rat Tail or Rat King is in my future. I just need to figure out how to do it. And I think shipping to the US is the way to go. How long are lead times now on an order? Would I have it in time for Christmas?

Out of all the suggestions so far, the TAFM has been my least favourite (based off youtube demos). Different strokes for different folks!

A good option for people out of the US is to do a "group buy" to shave off shipping charges. Orders are currently shipping around the 2 month mark, but all is subject to change, plus factor is shipping times.

I just shipped a pedal to Australia via US Postal Priority (not Express). With full insurance (enough to cover replacement and shipping), it cost over $50 to send, not to mention the extra time to fill out the Customs form. Have to say, this was the least expensive way I found to ship with reliable tracking and full insurance. Might be a bit more than what it cost to go from the US to wherever you are in Europe, but I think it's probably pretty close.

I think the TAFM covers so much ground that it can be tough to make a video that touches upon everything it can do. It does seem to be a pedal though that shines in real life far more than in demos. I've gone through some of the fuzzes that have been mentioned here - TFR, Eau Claire Thunder - and a number of others that haven't, and its the TAFM that remains on my board. Doesn't mean I don't miss the others and wish to have them back (and many more), but the TAFM has great tones and versatility that keeps it there.
