Tascam Bass Trainer

I still have the older CD version and still use it all the time. It is my favorite practice tool.

I joined two different bands (a few years apart), learning between 45-60 songs for each band within one week because of how easy it is to learn songs with this unit.

Adjust pitch without affecting speed, adjust speed without affecting pitch. Looping more difficult sections to concentrate on only the parts you need more work on. Makes it easy to learn songs quickly.

I highly recommend it. In fact I use a Zoom B2 and a wireless on gigs, but I don't use the Zoom as a stompbox pedal. I have it and my wireless receiver built into a custom pedal board that is set on my amp (as I only change settings between songs). And the Tascam CD Bass Trainer is mounted along with it. It allows me to go over difficult songs we may have recently learned right before the gig (after we are set up) or between sets just to refresh my memory with new songs. I can use the whole pedal board to practice with (which allows me to use the trainer with "my" bass tone and effects) and run my bass wireless along with a CD through my rig, or my stereo or just use the headphones, which I typically do when learning new songs (with headphones being obvious choice between sets on gigs). Using it with my pedal board also means it's always plugged in (it eats batteries fast)

Awesome little tool.

I have the MP3 verion and the best thing about it is that it can change they key of the song on the fly. This is a huge advantage for learning tunes that were recorded down a half step. You can even fine tune it for songe that are in between keys like "Another One Bites The Dust" that is not in E or in Eb but somewhere in between.

no question the best practice tool i have. i recommend them to everyone i come across.

also great for just practicing along with CD's silently with headphones even if you arent using the training features.

I have a CD version that is pretty much brand new. (used once) I am planning on selling it, I just haven't put up a for-sale thread yet. It works great, but I never use it. Would there be interest for a hardly used one at a good price.
I didn't think there would be an interest, so I haven't been in a big rush to post a thread.

I have the CD model for both bass AND guitar. Great device. Useful for playing along with instructional CD's as well as jamming with your favotite music CD's, either for learning the songs or just for fun. As has been said the effects aren't the greatest, but they are sufficient for the purposes of the device, you're not gonna be using this for live playing.
One benefit I've found with using the headphones, if you live in an apartment setting, you don't feel self-conscious about your sucky playing when you're learning something. No concerns about neighbors hearing you and saying "Boy, he plays horribly." LOL.:bassist:

I have the GTR1, it does all the pitch changes and tempo, plus you can record, record over what you are playing back, records line input, mp3 and wav file capable, and you can move wav and mp3 files to it. It does everything but coffee.

It can also cancel or enhance guitar or bass.

I record rehearsals and gigs, and use it for all the typical practice stuff.
