I have one, but use Amazing Slow Downer much more often...it's easier to use, and I don't mess with CDs.

got mine so that I could practice without anyone else hearing. I spent a week vacation with a bunch of other people. I put the songs that I needed to practice on it and played along without bothering anybody and without anybody popping in to see what I was doing. I love that part of it. Also, the sound is very direct and I could really hear what the bass actually sounded like. Happy with it.
Love it! I had the CD version, then upgraded to the MP3 version. Awesome! I use it all the time, but not only to play along. It's a great headphone amp too. Perfect for playing while sitting on the couch while the wife is watching The Home and Garden channel, and nonsense like that. USB charging as well. It's a keeper.
+1 on the adapter. it's a must-have accessory.

+1 from me too about the battery issue. The mp3 Tascam bass trainer has rechargeable batteries but they discharge after only a couple or three days - but I practice about 2 hours a day. It recharges via a USB cable but I got a wall wart USB thingie from Radio Shack to do the job and it takes around 3 to 4 hours to fully charge. Ah well, at least it's rechargeable instead of requiring new batteries like a kid with ice cream!

Bought it November 2015. It died yesterday (New Years day 2017)
For the amount of time I've actually used it, it sure didn't last long.
(Put cd in-----press play-----cd starts to play-----and then just randomly stops dead. Thought it was dirty discs etc.-----nope.)
Looks like they discontinued the MP3 version of this player.
I wouldn't buy another one.

The CD models have what I would call a washing machine lid switch. It won't run if it thinks the CD door is open. The plastic tab that operates the switch may have broken off.
This happened to mine so maybe you had something similar happen to yours.
I bought the CD version which ended up working only as a headphone driver with the material coming from my computer. Nowadays it doesn’t get used at all. There are so many computer based learning aids that the Unit became superfluous. One I really like is the "Amazing Slow Downer” which allows you to slow a track down but keep it in key.
The phone in your pocket may be all you need. Anytune app lets you adjust pitch and tempo, Modeling apps like Amplitube have features that do the same. DAWs also have such features.

If you have a Mac, you can speed up / slow down MP3 playback (without affecting pitch) in GarageBand. Just activate flex time in the track editor for that track.
