TB Muscle car thread.

I saw that one. Was nice to see Clarkson actually admit that America can make good cars. :D May and Hammond were already converts, though...

Funny thing is, Clarkson used to like American cars - I remember watching an old show of his, Motorworld, from about '97, when he was talking enthusiastically about the Chrysler LHS and how it'd go down well in the UK! (incidentally, only one Chrysler LH-platform vehicle ever made it to Europe - a Chrysler-badged version of the Eagle Vision, and even then, they never made it in RHD so it didn't get to the UK).

Clarkson surprises me sometimes, though none of the three cars in that adventure were what I'd look to buy. (In fact, most of the cars featured on the show are what I would consider owning, but it's fun to watch and learn about them anyway.)

Grand nationals are my second favorite car, beside Trans ams. If I could find one for cheap would get one right away.

Yea.. the 65 G.T.O. is my favorite.. never could find one back in the day. Now they're really expensive. 70 Chevelle, is my # 2 favorite. Missed out on one in the 70's I should have bought.

When the Gran national's came out, my dad drove one and said, "take that thing for a spin", it'll fly! So I did, and he was right. I was Impressed enough to buy one the next day.

So I put a 6 point cage in it, and went racing. It ran mid 13's right off the lot. Worked it into the 12's.. 11's then 10's. Ran I.H.R.A and N.H.R.A.. H/SA and G/SA classes.

It has 3300 miles on it.. all on the track. no highway miles.

I've seen so many cars in here that I wouldn't consider muscle cars at all.

To me, a muscle car is a midsized car (not a sports car/pony car like a Camaro or Mustang) with a huuuge freakin' engine in it.

Last American muscle car, in my mind, is the 1996 Chevy Impala SS... though the new Dodge Charger/Challenger might just fit that.

If we're talking about midsized, huge engine, and 21st century, (I'm not even sure we are, but I just felt like posting this badboy) then :

And this since we're doing the whole engine size thing (again, I'm not even sure we are but :D)

Here are my two. These are not show cars and will never be. I drive my cars and I drive them hard!

My 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury. Original 383 BB w/auto on the floor. Currently under restification. Will have a 514ci fuel injected BB with A518 OD auto trans when done.

Just picked this up last week. It is a 1972 Plymouth Valiant. Original 225 slant 6 w/auto. I couldn't stand the idea of seeing it go to the crusher so I am in the process of saving it. I haven't made up my mind yet whether she will get a stroker BB or a late model 5.7 hemi. We'll see as I get the body finished on which direction I go.

While we are talking fast, corner hugging, Japanese cars, give me a late 80s-early 90s RX-7. There is one for sale that I drive past ever day for work, and every time I wish I made enough money to buy it. I would also like an 80s Porsche 944. Not a big engine, not all that fast (for a porsche), but great cars.
