Placement seems key; I also record .wav at the highest possible resolution. It only gives me an hour and 56 minutes recording time, but that's fine.
Are you guys using amps etc. when you record?

no amps as the school takes them away during the summer. are you using an amp/setup (if you are what is it)? For some reason the sax player insists recording at the worst quality (i have no idea why i think he may have been dropped on the head as a child)

re:sax player - isn't that the setting that gives you something like 14 hours of recording time? How late do you guys play?

i think he records his stuff all day then leaves us for the mp3. i need to have a talk with him
